Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black & Decker PHV1800CB 18-Volt Pivoting-Nose Cordless Handheld Vacuum CleanerCustomer Review: Worked fine for 6mos, and then... Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased this as an xmas gift for the lady. She wanted a powerful handheld vac for cleaning up the rabbit pen (only two small rabbits, indoors), as well as household cleaning.
For the first 6mos, this seemed to work well, or at least as expected. However, after half a year passed, the engine grew deafening, the sucking action stopped working as well and then a plastic/rubber "stopper" fell out of the front end, thus allowing previously sucked up debris to fall back out. We looked past these things until one day, about 8mos after purchase, we noticed the charge wasn't holding very well. We let this unit charge all day every day, just as it's designed to do, so I'm unsure why it wouldn't hold the charge as we hadn't been using it all that often.
Long story short, with the unit being horribly loud now, with the reduced cleaning power, the fall-back debris issue and the bad charge, this unit was great for 6mos, but after 2 years, it's a piece of junk. Get a dirt devil.
Customer Review: GREAT Product Summary: 5 Stars
This vacuum is great. It is lightweight and sucks hard.
Some people say it is to loud but it works and that is what matters to me.
I don't think it is to loud. I only have it on for usually less than a minute anyway.
If they sound proof it I think it would be to heavy and useless.
I have a big tom cat and he leaves fur everywhere. This is so much easier to use than bringing
out the big vacuum with the hose attachment.
Works great on lots of little bugs too. I would recommend emptying it after so they don't crawl back out.
I'll probably use it on my car next. The sucker extends outward so I think it will be good for reaching all those hard to
get to places.
Keep it empty for best results, it can jam up and lose suction but it's only because it is crammed full of garbage.
The only improvement I can see them making is an ergonomic handle but I can't knock a star off for that because it handles well and
works great.
Buy it.
Customer Review: This Is The Real Deal Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned several hand vac's and was reluctant to purchase another. But with 2 cats, the liter box sand on the floor, and dry food, A Hand Vac really comes in Handy.
After reading many reviews on the internet, I decided this was the one to try out. It totally lives up to the ratings. Power and suction is great, battery stays charged as shown. It is housed in a compact charging cradle that I just leave at on end of the counter top, it looks nice.
It cleans a lot more than what I purchased it to do. I find myself using it for many jobs that I use to get my upright (with hose) out to do. I am very pleased with this Model. The Pivoting-Nose (that also extends) is an added Plus. Cleaning is simple and fast. Just remember, it is a hand Vac...It is not going to hold all the garbage in your house.
This is the best one that I have had, I am very pleased with my Purchase, and I received it extremely fast, as with most of my Amazone purchases.
Customer Review: This one is amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
All Dustbusters die eventually. I had another Band D cyclonic that I wrote rave reviews about a couple of years ago. This one is even better! I replaced that one recently...(when it finally died) with this model. I got it from Beach Camera for about $60.
So far I am amazed. It is so powerful! My only complaint is that when I tried picking up dead fern fronds on my carpet, which are super light...they were blowing all over from the Dustbuster.
My main reason for owning a Dustbuster and using it so frequently is my two Long Haired Himalayan cats. One of whom is a total slob with her dry food, which winds up all over the house. Between the cat hair, the cat litter and the dry food..Dustbusting is a very frequent event around here. Most of my rooms are carpeted and it pics up well on both hard surfaces as well as carpet.
I like the fact that the nozzel folds flat and has many positions available.
It is a real powerhouse!
Customer Review: Was Great - Now is EXTRAORDINARILY loud - has this happened to anyone else? Summary: 2 Stars
Hi - I bought this a little over a year and a half ago. It worked great.
I have read about people complaining about dust falling back out--I found that this only happened when it started to get too full.
My problem is that--also something I read in another review-the little flap at the end of the nose (right before the chamber that holds the dirt) fell out and it became SUPER SUPER loud.
I finally, after much difficult maneuvering, got the little flap back in. But the noise did not get better.
I now realize that the noise was probably not made worse by the little flap.
Please let me know if this has also happened to you (and if you have figured out what caused it).
I am assuming it can't be solved unless I open the whole thing up.
Too bad -- the suction still works great. But I will need to wear earplugs now because it is definitely dangerously loud.
