Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black and Decker CFV1200 DustBuster 12-Volt Cordless VacuumCustomer Review: great cordless vacuum! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best cordless vacuum that I have used. To give some background, I also have purchased the shark 2 in 1 cordless; the shark cordless sweeper; and the cordless boss lite.
Pros:
It is very easy to empty the dust cup and there is minimal mess when emptying (the shark is much more difficult and messy to empty)
Decent suction (for a cordless vacuum)
Can vacuum for at least 15 minutes on a charge
Works good on both carpet and hardwoods for quick pick up (no problem picking up kitty litter, pet hair, dust bunnies, ect)
Can be used as a handheld or full size vacuum
lightweight
small size allows for easy storage
Cons:
Pet hair gets caught in the beater (but I have yet to find a cordless vacuum that does not have this problem)
All that said, keep in mind that this is not meant to replace your regular vacuum. It works great when used as intended--for quick pickups.
Customer Review: BAD Not even 1 star GOOD IDEA, 3 BROKE IN NO TIME Summary: 1 Stars
I had purchased one and damaged it... but I loved it I thought I'd take a chance an d buy again. I was wondering if it was a product flaw..because my sister had the same exact problem!. the removeable hand held dustbuster.. could not SNAP back into position... for both of us. well, I read the othe reviews and never saw this commented on, so I ordered again.. and I like the fast.. delinting of my rug when I have a moment or two. My electrolux is a heavy monster..although obviously does a much deeper, better job. THis machine doesdid what it promises. No deep cleaning, but a satisfactory superficial job and I liked it a lot, but it broke too and I would never ever recommend it. we bought 3 and all 3 are in the trash IN NO TIME. !!! WAY FAST.. tHIS TIME THE SWITCH ON THE HAND HELD PART WOUL DNOT WORK. It is a good idea gone bad. i HAVE SINCE BOUGHT a better made unit from Electrolux.. no history on it yet.. but it is orange in the photos and works the same way as this one. WISH ME LUCK
Customer Review: Good Value for the Money Summary: 4 Stars
For a cordless under $50, this little guy performs well. I have a Rottweiler in the house that sheds constantly all year round, and it works satisfactorily to pick up the pet hair and crumbs on my hard floors. When you turn on the brush, it does a good job of cleaning up the rugs, and it's perfect for touch ups on the carpet when company's coming. My favorite part though is the hand vac, which is so convenient to have around the house; I use it more than the whole vacuum! Also, I was not disappointed with the battery life like some other reviewers; it stayed charged through my kitchen, dining room, two bathrooms, and some touch ups around the house without going dead. I gave this product four stars only because the suction could be a bit better, but as long as your expectations aren't too high (like expecting it to perform like a $800 vacuum!) I think you'll be pleased with this little helper.
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 Stars
We had one of the earliest DustBusters, which was dreadfully under powered and didn't hold a charge long. As they say, "you've come a long way, baby!" This really performs well. We have a cleaning service come every two weeks to do a thorough cleaning, but we need to tounch up in between, and this vacuum makes it so that my wife, who is in a wheelchair, can do it herself, and not have to wait for me to have time to do it. She had tried doing it with an electric broom that plugs in, but ended up with the cord wrapped around the wheels of her power wheelchair. She loves this vacuum.
My only complaint is that I wish the dust cup was larger, as we have a lot of dog hair (from 2 Dobermans) and it fills up very quickly.
We have a number of Black and Decker tools and appliances, and find the quality to be consistently good. Keep up the good work.
Customer Review: Disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I ordered this product after reading the other reviews on the great performance and suction of the unit.
I am very disappointed with it. I wanted a cordless vac to use on my vinyl kitchen floor for quick pick-ups in between real cleanings.
This unit as a hard floor vac is horrible. It barely has any suction and hardly picks up anything - picks up dust, but nothing more - crumbs, etc all stay on the floor. I performed my unscientific test of holding a single square of toilet paper in front of the vac and there is absolutely no suction.
As a hand held vac removed from its "handle" and without the brush roll it does fine. Unfortunately, I already have a handheld vac and did not want another. Seems to me that the handheld vac is fine, but the design of the handle assembly ruins its suction and its abilities. Its useless for me then.
