Tools and Hardware Reviews of Black and Decker CFV1200 DustBuster 12-Volt Cordless VacuumCustomer Review: Great for a few months, but not longer... Summary: 2 Stars
We bought this about six months ago as the primary vacuum in our very small 1 bedroom apartment with wall-to-wall carpeting. It was wonderful for the first few months, the cordless option was great and it worked fairly well on the carpet (it's no dyson, but it picked up most of the visible stuff). However, it hasn't held up very well. Even after cleaning the filter and pulling all the hair out of the beater bar, it has almost no suction. It tends to collect crap inside the mouth, and then either spit it back out behind, or drop it out as soon as you turn it off. It is also made out of cheap plastic, and part of it keeps falling off and has to be snapped back on almost every time we use it. It's probably fine as a secondary vacuum that dosen't get a lot of heavy use, but if you're looking for a primary vaccum, even for a small apartment, this one won't last long.
Customer Review: Exactly what I was looking for! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been on the hunt for a cordless vac for my hard floors for a year. I read reviews, looked a every model avail. It shouldn't have been that hard. Well I finally decided to purchase the Black and Decker CFV1200 DustBuster 12-Volt Cordless Vacuum.
I have not been sorry for one second. It has served the purpose and even exceeded. I use it to keep all of my hard floors and rugs clean daily. I even turn the brush on and touch up my carpets. It can't replace a good vaccuming, but it is very adequate for in between touch ups.
Even my teens have commented on it. Anything to make clean up easier and faster for them is great. They break it down to clean their cars.
Anyway, I know it is just a vac., but a clever, well performing one at that.
Customer Review: Great Lil' vac Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased 3 of these for x-mas presents, 1 was for myself. I bought this brand because my friend has had a cordless B&D vac for 3 years and really abuses it(and it still works!) I have a sheltie and it picks up the surface (only) hair on the rugs and every thing on the vinyl floor. It literally picked up pieces of a plastic fork and corner piece of a juice box(with the beater brush on). It definitely is not a primary type vac if you have lots of carpet, but every time I empty the cup it is full of hair, sand, crumbs and dust. One thing about it is that the switch for the beater brush to turn off & on is kinda finicky, so sometimes when you think it's on, it isn't (which would cause you to think it doesn't have suction!) If I would have paid $75. I still would have been satisfied!
Customer Review: Doesn't pick up much and very loud Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this vacuum based on the reviews it received and I was very disappointed. For a dustbuster it is very loud. Much louder than what I was looking for. As loud as a full on heavy duty vacuum. Considering it does not pick up much on the carpet or the floor, I can't imagine why it has to make so much noise. I returned it after one use. The filter was completely clogged with dust after the one use and will need to be cleaned after each use. Don't waste your money on this one. If you are looking for a lightweight vacuum for the floor and short carpets consider the Swivel Sweeper touchless. It works great picking up dust, sand, dirt, food off our hardwood floors and does a light cleaning on our wool rug. It is not perfect, but it works just as well as sweeping yourself.
Customer Review: Outstanding for a cordless Summary: 5 Stars
While shopping for a replacement for my original Dustbuster that has had a long useful life, but beyond it's prime I was sad to see this product was only offered at Amazon for a short time and never restocked. I postponed my purchase and found it difficult to find in post-xmas Florida until I happened upon one at my local Target for $45.This thing is great for a cordless vac: light, powerful and holds a charge for a reasonable time (I can easily vacuum my 2000 sqft home with charge left over). The three configurations make it versatile, and the beater bar in the upright mode really helps to get everything. I'm amazed every time I empty it that a Dustbuster is picking up that much dirt and dog hair. A great value, performance is outstanding for a cordless.
