Tools and Hardware Reviews of Blueair 250E Energy-Efficient Air Purifier with Remote Control and Digital Display

Customer Review: Quiet, Energy Efficient, Will be buying more
Summary: 5 Stars

Boy, I wish I had purchased this purifier from the beginning. I made the mistake of purchasing the popular Honeywell machines last week and my wife just about threw me out of the house after hearing the noise from those machines. She described the sound as being in the middle of a power plant facility. Even their desktop purifier is louder on the low setting that the BlueAir 250e on the highest setting. BlueAir is truly whisper quiet (30 db at low setting) and I had a hard time believing it was on full blast when I had it on the highest setting until I put my hand near the top.

The CADR is more than enough for a 12x12 room according to a conservative estimate from a leading allergy website. I like that you could have this right next to your bed and not realize it is turned on.

The remote control is terrific and you can turn off the ion purifier if you like as well, although I am comfortable knowing that it has been tested by various sites with no ozone production measured.

Ordered this product via Amazon Prime and arrived within 2 days, outstanding service as usual (and free shipping) - well worth the investment for me.

I will look at buying some of the larger BlueAir products for my living room and larger areas and can't wait to have guests over now that the air is fresh and inviting.

Customer Review: Worked well for 18 months.
Summary: 3 Stars

Greetings Amazonians, I originally purchased one of these in September of 2008. It worked fine for about 9 months then started making a faint chirping sound like there was a cricket in it. It continued to work fine for about another 9 months but stopped working in April of 2010.

I've called the warranty center but amazingly you don't get to talk to a real person. All you get is an answering machine where you leave a message. I've called twice and am still waiting for a call back. I'm dead serious, look up their warranty number and call it, you'll be amazed when you get the machine.

Here is my original review from September of 2009. I stopped in to buy a filter and left this review:
This product works very well. It does not move as much air as you would expect but whichever room you put it in requires much less dusting and it is very quiet. It helps allergies and asthma. Excellent for reducing pet dander.

Customer Review: The perfect air purifier for any bedroom!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a fantastic air purifier from a reputable company! It is very efficient, you will notice cleaner air within two to three hours and it is very, very quiet! Plus the electronics are awesome!

You can disregard that other baseless and absurd review, clearly right winged, just because it is made in China. Maybe, he'll want to return over 77% of the contents in his home, since it is most likely made in China.

This item is swedish technology, and quite frankly, I do not care where things are made, as long as it is up to the specifications!

Take all of Apple's products, for instance! They are all designed in California, but everything is made in China! I should know, I own just about every product they make and the quality is second to none and beyond comparison!

Customer Review: Made in China, Fan motor chirping
Summary: 1 Stars

It's designed in Sweden but made in PRC.

I actually took it apart when the motor started making this annoying chirping sound after less than 24 months. If you look at the Blueair website, they sell a bunch of refurbished ones because all they do is replace the fan motor.

The housing looks hi-tech but it's just held by rivets and cheap machine screws. Inside the thin steel is a styrofoam casing and a plastic cover. A super quiet bathroom exhaust fan with a large car cabin filter!

It does filter stuff but the retail is ridiculous for what you get. I would give it 5 stars if it was $80 and it came with 2 filters.

If you're ok with throwing it way after 2-3 years, get it.

Customer Review: So Far, So Good
Summary: 4 Stars

So far so good. We've had the purifier for about a month. It runs on the lowest setting usually, so the air in our house is a lot cleaner than I thought which is good. It automatically adjusts speed to the quality of air. Very, very quiet. Even on highest setting, it is hardly noticeable. I did tons of research before deciding on this purifier. It really is the best in price range, and the best choice for asthma sufferers. It does not emit ozone ( which I found out a lot of lower end purifiers do) which is an irritant for asthma sufferers.
