It works when you mount it YOUR way and NOT the way they say to. The screw that goes in at an angle raises the other end of the device and causes it to raise from the surface and not work. Remove the plastic guide and use that hole to screw down flush and add a sticky glue (such as shoe-goo) to hold the other end down flush to the surface (no way to screw it down).
