Tools and Hardware Reviews of Brita 42645 Aquaview On Tap Filtration System

Customer Review: Probably user error
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had the Brita Aqua view for around three years now. And the only time I have ever had any complaint other than the replacement indicator not seeming terribly accurate, was when I accidentally ran hot water through the filter. HOT WATER WILL RUIN THE FILTER!! At somewhere between 15 to 20 dollars per filter, it's a mistake I only made once. The filters have a good life span aside from that. I have been very pleased with the quality and taste of the filtered product. And 2 of my years with it were in Atlanta, where the water is notoriously bad.
And how many other on tap water filters offer a sprayer option? I use that feature almost exclusively, I believe it cuts water usage when rinsing dishes by about 30%. That alone puts it a step above. If used properly I think the Aqua View is as good or better than any other available.

Customer Review: The First Few weeks were great
Summary: 1 Stars

The first 3 or 4 weeks were great the product worked great, saving me a ton of money on bottled water and space in the fridge from the gallon model. I found the model tasted alot less charcoal like than the gallon model. But unfortunately after 3 or 4 weeks the light turned yellow which is fine because we drink alot of water and I didn't expect it to last long but the water that would come out would smell like rotten eggs, now I know Florida water is not the best but my tap water smells fine. I shouldn't have to run my water for 5 minutes before pouring a glass. Also the model is a bit bulky making it harder to do dishes. Last but not least it makes the pipes vibrate in brita mode, I try to turn it on as slowly as possible but unless its barely trickling those pipes will vibrate and if they burst I know brita's not going to pay for them.

Customer Review: A big disappointment.
Summary: 1 Stars

I received the system on June 2, 2007, and by July 25 the red light had come on indicating that the filter needed to be changed, even though I had drawn no more than about 1 gallon of water per day. I tried to purchase a replacement filter but found that none of the stores which carry Brita products sell this particular model or its filters. I then called Brita customer service and was told there were no filters for this model being sold by stores in my neighborhood (I live in Los Angeles!!). I was told I could order filters by calling an 800 number, but of course would also have to pay postage. When I declared that this was not an acceptable solution, and after much haggling, the customer rep agreed to replace this model with model I had used previously and without any trouble for about three years.

Customer Review: Good system and saves you tons of money
Summary: 4 Stars

I have used this system back in my original country and loved it.

Got a new one for my american home. Installation is easy. I love the fact you can use the filter option ofr drinkable water and then the normal water function just to wash dishes, so you do not use your filter for nothing.

A little bulky...

The only thing is that it came with a bunch of faucet adapters. It seem to work well at first and then it kept falling. Not sure if it is my faucet that is old or if they should offer a bigger variety of adapters. Anyway, thought this, my faucet what adapter broke. i called the company and they replaced it easily at no charge. Very friendly.

Thank you Brita!

Customer Review: Going strong for three years
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this product for about three years now and it has never leaked, broken down or had any problems at all. I live in Anaheim California and the water used to stain my water jugs with a nasty chlorine smell and taste that was extremely overpowering. Ever since buying this filter, I have never tasted better water, and my water has had no smell. I also like the spray feature, which is good for cleaning dishes with and is a feature that most other filters are lacking. I don't know why Brita discontinued this product in favor of their cheap line of filters which are pieces of junk, but if you can get your hands on this filter and a bunch of replacement filters I would highly recommend this unit.
