Tools and Hardware Reviews of Brita 42645 Aquaview On Tap Filtration System

Customer Review: Better Than The Original
Summary: 4 Stars

I had the original On Tap filter but I had to replace it three times. I saw this one and thought it was worth a try even though it cost more. It was worth it. The whole system is more sturdy. It seems less likely that the seal will weaken like the old one because it doesn't move when you change the settings. Also, the filtered water comes out in a larger stream which makes it quicker to fill things. The only negative with this product is that it fits under the faucet and it is a bit bulky. It gets in the way a bit when I do dishes or if I'm trying to fill a pitcher for example. But that's not enough to deter me from this product. BUY IT. You won't be disappointed.

Customer Review: Indicator lights fail
Summary: 2 Stars

As a loyal and longtime user of the various BRITA systems I was amazed that this product suddenly didn't work properly any longer.
First, the green indicator light didn't show up when in the proper position.
Second, the stream stopped working at all.
I called Brita and was told to clean the entire filter, especially the little mesh, which could be full of residues. I did that: no residues found. Installed a new filter - same problem.
Believe me, I followed all the instructions and it doesn't work!
I'm disappointed now with Brita. Who knows what kind of Florid water we're drinking with this system? I don't dare to think abnout.

Customer Review: looks nice.. NOT PRACTICAL... just a gadget
Summary: 1 Stars

Attachment to the kitchen faucet is very suspect. Plastic parts do not make for a sure fit. IF YOU EVER RUN HOT WATER THROUGH THE FILTER... forget it. This has happened twice at my house. If hot water goes through the filter, even for five seconds, the filter is ruined. Two brand new filters at $24/each met this fate. When this happens the whole contraption pops off the faucet. Spend another $50-$70 bucks and install an industrial grade in line filter underneath the sink. In line filter replacements are cheaper than small Brita filters and can be found at Ace Hardware. I am EXTREMELY disapointed in the Brita AquaView product.

Customer Review: Nicely designed water filter
Summary: 4 Stars

I have purchased two of these filters. I really like the design. It's great that it fits under the faucet head instead of sticking up. I like the three types of water sprays. We used the filtered spray for drinking. The shower-type spray for washing dishes and the pour spray for filling bottles. It filters nicely.

The only drawbacks are that for whatever reason we've had some trouble getting a nice seal. Originally it did seal well to the faucet and I think the problem is mostly likely with my own faucet and not the Brita filter.

Customer Review: Works VERY well, but doesn't last long
Summary: 4 Stars

Any complaints about saying it doesn't work as it should probably has to do with confusion about what they THINK it should do. It makes the water taste good, hands down. I live in Atlanta, and we have some nasty water here :) Thing is, I thought it would last 3 months or 300 gallons. Not a chance, it lasted 4 weeks and that was less than 100 gallons by far, probably 50. Now I have to buy the replacement filters, 1 a month! That being said, the water here is pretty bad like I said, so probably most areas last longer. Then again, if you're buying this...
