Got this on a rebate deal to try out. Installed it about 3 months ago. Had to try a couple of different fittings but didn't find it too difficult. The water does taste better than what normally comes out of the tap. I keep some smaller-sized widemouth water bottles around that fit underneath it and I find it very conveient when I'm spending time reading or watching movies upstairs.
The drinking fountain feature is handy but since the water is not completely diverted to the fountain stream, I tend not to use it much for fear of wasting the filter life. It does fit neatly under our tap and doesn't get in the way. It is a little flimsy-feeling but my husband and I are simply careful in handling it. Any faucet-attached filter should be handled with care anyway to avoid overstraining the faucet, so this is not a real problem in my opinion.
If it lasts at least 8 months I will feel I got a good deal, even without the rebate. Incidentally, the rebate check came back from Brita without any hitches, which was nice.

Not sure why these other folks filters did not last so long - if you run hot water thru it, which it clearly states in the literature, then you will ruin it, and that's easy to do by accident. Even so, having done that a couple times without thinking, my bathroom filter only died after 10 months when I removed it and took it to another house - my kitchen unit is still going strong at more than a year with good-tasting water but I am going to replace it anyway just cause I think its time. Weighing costs of other filters, along with having to change them more often for other systems and ultimately commit them to landfills as well, I decided this was the way to go, but yes, when I buy my next house I will be installing a whole house filter to make the issue moot (I also have a filter on my shower at this point.) Its also easy to install - just follow the directions and be gentle with it . .Customer Review: Not so good

The taste of the water was good but I had problems with the light indicator. The first filter's light was red from the moment of installation. Amazon sent a replacement right away. I installed the second and the light was green at first but went to red within a few hours. The filter was probably good to use, just the indicator is malfunctioning. However, the indicator is important. Without it, how would I know when it is really time to replace the filter?
The drinking fountain is a good idea but when using it the water would continue to flow heavily from the filter's spout, wasting a LOT of water. I'm sending both back and forgetting about this model until Brita does a better job of diverting water from the filter's spout to the fountain, and has a better indicator system.

Well, I had a different experience with my Brita. the first Brita that I got started displaying a red light just after 2-3 months. But I called Brita and they were very co-operative and helpful. Not only did they replace the filter for me (it arrived fast, within a week of me shipping it... and in case you are wondering the shipping was free - they sent me a free shipping label) but they also sent me a 10$ coupon to tide me in the meanwhile. I have had the second Brita for about 8 months now with no hassle whatsoever - its working fine, the water tastes great. By the way, it was very easy to install (no leaking water, no spraying fountains). You just really have to be careful of not running hot water through the filter.Its really convenient- give it a shot.Customer Review: Works like a charm!

I'm not sure why other people had such problems with their installation - I didn't have any trouble screwing this in nice and tight, and it hasn't leaked even a little bit. You just have to make sure the washer is positioned just right and then it's totally leak-free. It has improved the taste and smell of my formerly toxic bathroom water by 1000%. The water in the bathroom used to taste so bad that I had to brush my teeth with bottled water - very annoying! - but thanks to this nifty gadget I don't have to do that anymore. I like the little fountain attachment too, though I agree with others who've said that it is wasteful that the water doesn't completely divert to the fountain from the faucet. Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase.
