Tools and Hardware Reviews of Brita On Tap Replacement Filters, 2-Pack, Chrome, for Models FF-100 & OPFF-100 (42618)Customer Review: Good customer support & free replacements!! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this Britta filter system for the same reasons everyone does. It's a little less expensive than the Pur system and I like the design better.
HINT -- so far Britta customer suppport has been very good about helping with problems and/or sending free replacements. If something breaks or doesn't work properly, call the Britta customer support number on the package !! My first base unit cracked after about a year. I called Britta customer service and explained the problem. They sent a new base unit right away - FREE of charge!! It arrived in just a couple of days and worked fine. A few years later I got a new filter and it didn't connect properly to the base unit. I called customer service and they sent a new filter - right away and free of charge again!! Of course, they do try to help you fix the problem without needing a replacement, and they keep a record of your name, etc. so you can't just do this to get free stuff all the time.
Remember - they want to keep you happy so you'll keep buying the replacement filters, which is how they make their money. It also helps to say something like "I'm thinking of switching to the Pur faucet-mount filter - maybe it won't have this problem with the... (fill in the blank with the problem you're having)."
Customer Review: Much better than PUR Summary: 4 Stars
I went through 3 or 4 of the PUR faucet mount filters. They gave great results while they worked - but they clogged up very quickly, and invariably, the mount cracked within 6 months. They honor the 5 year warranty, but who wants to go to the trouble and expense of shipping it back to the factory every 6 months, and then waiting several weeks for the replacement.
I switched to Brita about 2 years ago, and have been happy. I've been through probably 8 replacement filters and it still works.
Compared to PUR:
PROS
Mount more durable
Filters don't clog before reaching their capacity for filtration
Much easier to change filters than PUR (PUR often jammed and took a lot of effort to screw the cap on and off). The just pop on, pop off.
CONS
The water taste is not quite as good as PUR, and based on the published stats, they don't filter quite as much as the PUR filters - but on both counts Brita is very close.
Much happier with Brita than PUR. I don't know how PUR manages to stay in business - the quality is just so awful.
Customer Review: Brita on tap water filter Summary: 2 Stars
Brita On Tap Water Filter. I recently purchased this product. The installation instructions read that installation is easy. I tend to disagree. The tower part of the filter does not allow you to turn the faucet adapter because it is in the way of the spiket. You can only turn it so far. Plus, the adapters that came with it do not fit my spiket and I've called Britta requesting additional adapters. What I question is if Britta Company knows that additional adapters may be needed why don't they include them instead of making the customer call in. I've tried to put the Filter back on so many times that the screen inside the part that mounts to the faucet has loosened and I need a new screen but cannot locate one. I would not purchase this item again and do not recommend it. Try Culligan. I have a shower head by Culligan and it works great. I love it!!

Customer Review: replaced Brita pitcher Summary: 3 Stars
We bought this filter for my parents who will only drink filtered water as their city water has a very strong chemical taste and smell. They were using a pitcher for all their drinking water so I thought that a faucet filter would be a nice upgrade for them. The installation was a little rough. It was difficult to get the threads on the faucet to line up and form a tight seal with the filter unit. Once everything was lined up, there were no leaks. The biggest drawback is that the flow of the filtered water is pretty slow. It takes several minutes to fill a coffeepot, but it's still faster than waiting for the water to drip through the pitcher. You can flip the switch to get unfiltered water which flows normally.
Customer Review: Great tasting water! Summary: 5 Stars
Ordered a Brita FF-100 along with two replacement filters a few days ago, and received it today. I installed it within 10 minutes, and had the water flowing thru the filter for the 5 minute conditioning. Afterwards, the filtered water tasted GREAT...as good as or better than the Aquafina water we've been buying lately. Our normal tap water has a metallic/chlorine taste, and is just horrible. With the amount of money we've been dropping on 24 packs of the 16oz Aquafina bottles, I figured it would be a good idea to see if the Brita filter could transform our tap water into a suitable substitute. It sure did! Definitely recommended.
