I keep this on my desk to refill throughout the day. I love the large capacity. I like the style of the pitcher as well, more than I thought I would from the pictures. The center of gravity is always high when there's water in the filter reservoir, but the wide base and large handle help me keep a good grip.
I don't have trouble with the lid opening up or falling off when I pour water out. If the pitcher is even 1/4 full and I grab it high on the handle, the pitcher tips itself forward to pour. All I have to do is relax my grip until I get the angle I want.
It's worth noting that the pitcher does hold 10 cups, but you have to do 2 filtrations to fill up the lower half.
I do think the overflow valve was a silly idea in some ways. Here's how it is. The handle is actually hollow. Where the handle meets the pitcher at the top, there's a tiny hole. Where the handle meets the pitcher at the bottom is not an airtight seal. If the water gets all the way to the very, very top of the filtration tank, it spills into that hole, down the handle, and dribbles down the side of the pitcher. It then gets all over the counter, the floor, or whatever is under the pitcher at the time.
That said, it's not that challenging to fill the pitcher slightly less. I also prefer this version to an older model I had, where overfilling would just cause water to seep up around the plastic edges and encourage mold to grow.
Another minor design flaw is the little plastic "flap" or tab that covers the pour spout. When you pour water, the force of the water pushes the flap out of the way. When you stop, the flap closes and keeps stuff from dropping into the pitcher. The flap also invariably catches a little bit of water on top of it. I feel this creates an environment for mold to take up residence, so I push gently on the flap to let the water fall away.
