Customer Review: Save $11 a year by replacing the old door light on my Maytag front-loading Neptune Washer

I bought two of the C. Crane LED light bulb, one to replace the energy-draining and dim nightlight bulb. The second one to replace my burnt-out Maytag Neptune front-loading washer door light and this is where it shines (literally). I like to keep my washer door open all the time to keep the moisture out and prevent mold from forming on my washer's door seal. The problem is the original door light burnt out quickly, not to mention burning a hole in my wallet because of all the energy it consumes (10W x 24 hour x 30 days = 7.2KW /month ~ $1/moth in electricity) In comparison this LED light bulb uses less than 1W (less than 10% of the old bulb), is as bright as the old bulb and cost the same as if I have purchased a replacement OEM Maytag bulb ($5), yet it used 10% of the energy = saving 90-cent a month or $11 a year. It is really a no brainer! The same goes for the other LED bulb I replaced on my nightlight. After 6 months, both LED bulbs are still working perfectly and just as bright as Day 1.Customer Review: Possibly the best nightlight there is!

I've compared several nightlights/bulbs and found these to be the best when you need a quick light. Perfect because I can screw them into any nightlight I already have laying around the house. I'm currently using these in the hallway on switched outlets, because a photocell wouldn't work well since they wouldn't get much sunlight. These produce a much whiter light which make them seem a bit brighter then Maxxima MLN-50 5 LED Night Light With Sensor (Pack of 2) or 15A Hallway Light Currently, all the nightlights I've reviewed thus far are in use. Even the Feit Electric BPC7/LED Three LED Night Light Bulb with Candelabra Base, Clear, 2 Pack have there use in smaller areas of the house.Customer Review: $$ Saver

May take a little time to get use to.
If you have clear or almost clear covers for your nightlights they may not be the best bulb, The more "cloudy" the covers are the better they make the light look.
w/ the clear covers the individual bulbs stand out and are a little harsh on the eyes (specially since you are probably half asleep when you are looking at it)
I think the lights are more bright then your typical incandescent bulb but the light tends to be a bit directional.
I don't think I would put this in a area that I sleep in especially if I could see the bulbs from my bed, the individual LED's are bright!
Overall they still give off plenty of light for walking at night, they should pay for them selves in 3-6 months in energy savings alone, and will hopefully last a lifetime...
Shipping was a little slow but maybe that was just me...

We bought this LED light bulb for a night light for our duaghter's bedroom to replace a standard 12w incandescent (glowing filament) candelabra bulb which was too bright for night use and to save electricity costs (since it's on for 8 or more hours at a time).
The bulb runs cool to the touch which makes it safer and LED bulbs are known to last in the thousands of hours so I shouldn't ever have to replace it again. It's not a fire hazard like an incandescent bulb. For its size it gives off a lot of light however the room is now significantly darker than with the incandescent bulb.
It's good to alleviate our daughter's anxiety about the dark but it is dim enough to the point that we can not clearly see our daughter's face from her doorway when she is sleeping at a distance of 9 feet. We can only make out her silhouette but not if her eyes are open or closed.

The picture for this item has changed since I originally placed my order. Note that it does not have a standard bases, rather it has a candelabra base. I was able to purchase an adapter to resolve this issue.
The design of the bulb is also different than the original picture in that it has several leds mounted around it's shaft. For a free standing night-light, this may work out pretty well. My application is a built-in wall enclosure. The design of this bulb only has two LEDs facing out of the wall, so the total amount of light is reduced somewhat from a normal bulb.
I would hope that as Amazon becomes more familiar with LED bulbs, they will more routinely report the base size and LED placement, and actual light output so that people can evaluate the appropiateness for the application at hand.
