Customer Review: I bought it for a garage door opener light

I have a fairly old Sears chain garage door opener that was killing light bulbs about once/week. This light is immune (so far) to the vibration.
Even though this is very dim (60 lumens versus 1085 lumens in a 75 watt bulb), it at least puts some light in the garage until my other automatic lights go on when I get out of the car.
***1+ year update: Still hasn't burned out!

I purchased the bulb for a porch light. It IS a bright white color, but it is focused downward and not wide enough for an area light. There is a big contrast between the very WHITE bulb and the incandescents nearby. I'll probably keep it there just to see how the energy usage goes.
So close, and yet not quite there for a utilitarian type bulb that LEDs will be someday.

Not a replacement for a flourescent bulb! the advertised savings aren't really there with these bulbs. I bought some and was disappointed when they didn't give the same amount of light as a $.99 nite light. I cannot even read by their light, these bulbs are so dim! I love the idea of these things, and I'll have to see what products are out there which can outlast flourescent bulbs.Customer Review: Why isn't NO Stars an option?

Terrible, terrible, terrible. OK if all you want is a small spotlight or a nightlight.
I wasted money on buying TWO of these bulbs that I will NEVER use! I do want to see better LED samples in the marketplace, but THIS one has GOT TO GO!
Too bad I didn't check the reviews on Amazon before spending over 60 bucks on TWO lightbulbs! I'm an IDIOT!

I got this for christmas. I thought to put it in my lamp in my room, but it is not bright enough for that. I'd say it is about like a 40 watt bulb, except that it doesn't shine all over the place, just in front of itself. It's probably best for places you want a weird dim light on all the time. For that application, I would say this is the perfect bulb.
