The description says that a cam keeps the sweep down when the door is closed, but it does not say that the cam and sweep are to be installed on the OUTSIDE of the door. The door can't be operated if the cam is on the inside, because the cam would hold the door closed. This was not obvious to me from the description, so now that I have the sweep in hand, it's too late. I don't know how well it works for the situation for which it was designed, but it seems like it would work well.

C.R. LAURENCE DB019AV36 CRL Aluminum Residential Automatic Door Sweep for 36" Door. This CRL Residential Automatic Door Sweep is a spring-loaded, door bottom sweep that retracts up and away from the face of the door when door is opened. When the door is closed, the supplied cam lowers the Sweep. The gap at the door base and threshold is now sealed to prevent dust, moisture, and drafts from entering.
