Tools and Hardware Reviews of Liftmaster 41A4373A Garage Door Opener Safety BeamsCustomer Review: Oversize, not a direct replacement Summary: 5 Stars
I have an existing Chamberlain garage door opener and I need to replace the IR sensors. Unfortunately, these chamberlain sensors required the bracket to be modified for the installation to work. I also had to buy screws as the old screws would no longer work.
Installation was much harder then it should have been, but they work better then the originals ever did. Periodically the originals would intermittently trigger as if something was blocking the door and this you could not trust the door to close. This symptom has gone away with the new sensors.
If you are prepared to work extra hard on installation thes are great sensors. I think there is an alternate packaging of these with brackets, that may be a better way to go.
Customer Review: Fast and easy upgrade! Summary: 5 Stars
After struggling with my sensors for years, which would just about align as long as touched them, bent the wires just right, etc, my sensors finally failed. Rather than install a new system, I decided I'd just replace the sensors, though with some dread as I anticipated many more years of the same. My originals were from about 1996; these are excellent. Crimp and splice connectors are included to make installation a breeze. And the new sensors are far more easily aligned, and not impressed by fleeting breaks in the beam (such as a cat running out).
Only downside, though: keep your original mounting bolts from your old set. None are included with this. All in all, I couldn't be happier.
Customer Review: Works Great, but short cord Summary: 4 Stars
I bought a new house and had to replace the sensors for the garage door. These were way cheaper than I could find from Sears, plus they were delivered to my door in a matter of days rather than drive an hour to hit a warehouse. The only issue I have is related to the cords that connected the sensors to the unit. The cords that extend from the sensors are only a few feet, and if there was something wrong with the existing wires, I would have had to buy an additional length of wire to connect to the opener. It didn't specify any length of cord in the description (they also come with nice little crimps that make it easy to spice the wires), but luckily it all worked fine and I can close the garage.
Customer Review: Garage Door Now Lowers With Remote Summary: 5 Stars
I have been plagued for several years when it got cooler (70 degrees or below) the garage door opener would not lower the garage door but it would raise it. The remote would also open the door but would not lower it. Had to hold in on the hard wired button on the wall to get it to lower. No one could figure out what was wrong.
We tested the wiring to the safety beams and they had power, so we decided to spend the money and see if the safety beams needed replaced. The receiving beam evidently was bad. The garage door now opens and shuts like it should with the remote and also with the button on the wall.
Took about 15 minutes to install.
Customer Review: Oh Thank You! Summary: 5 Stars
They work. I had the problem so many others have had: the garage door might go down, it might not, it might work for a day with no problems, then might do the old go down one foot, stop, then go back up. It drove me insane. I spent hours trying to align the lights just right, but that wasn't the issue. The beam units had gone bad, and I ordered and installed these and all is right with the world again. I hit the button and the door goes down. What a relief! I priced these on the Sears website and they wanted $30 more than here on Amazon. The package even comes with one extra crimper, which was good because I fouled up the first one.
