Tools and Hardware Reviews of Carlon HW2162 Wireless Light Socket SwitchCustomer Review: great product Summary: 5 Stars
This product is great! I have an old house with a pull-chain type light fixture at the top of the stairs. I bought two of these items, put the socket in the fixture, and placed one switch at the bottom of the stairs and one at the top. They are both on the same frequency, and it so far is working flawlessly. MUCH cheaper than ripping apart my old plaster walls and trying to get the electricians to put in wiring. 5 stars.
Customer Review: DOES NOT WORK WITH CFLs Summary: 1 Stars
Please be warned--it appears as though they've changed the description since I bought it to reflect this, but this product ONLY works with incandescent lightbulbs. Why they would make a product that will not work with CFLs is mystifying, but I now have a totally useless product and can't return it because their customer service is only open M-F 8am-4pm, so I couldn't call until today. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Customer Review: Perfect Solution ... Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this item to install in a pantry closet. I had originally installed a light in the ceiling with a typical "Pull String" switch. The string is always getting in the way, etc. Installing and fishing another cable to install a wall switch would be quite a pain. This item could not have been the more perfect solution. Simple to install, and works great.
Customer Review: Try incandescents Summary: 3 Stars
While its becoming very difficult to find incandescent bulbs, this unit would not work properly for me without one. Compact fluorescent bulbs would turn on, but for whatever reason would not reliably turn off. With incandescent bulbs it works very reliably. Also the battery connection is quite flimsy. Recommend rigid mounting of the switch housing if possible.
Customer Review: WORKED FOR A MONTH Summary: 1 Stars
I had one of these Switches made by Heath-Zenith that lasted for 8 years.
I purchased this Carlon brand and it lasted just 4 weeks before it died.
Just long enough so that I was not able to return it for a refund!
I should have stuck with the Heath-Zenith brand!
Piece of Crap! I'm now using a $2.50 Pull Chain socket. Works Great!
