Tools and Hardware Reviews of Carlon HW2162 Wireless Light Socket Switch

Customer Review: This rocks
Summary: 5 Stars

Our back room had no way to wire a light switch except for major construction. I just screwed in the adapter, mounted the switch on wall and we have light. I tried the switch from another room through the wall and it worked great. Buy this if you have a light socket that has a pull chain or switch is in the wrong place. This worked well.

Customer Review: Maximum Range not as advertised
Summary: 1 Stars

If you are unfortunate enough to have purchasd this product, you will find that it turns on/off unreliably. The package lists the maximum range is 50 ft. No way! I found out that you have to be in clear line of sight and no more than 12 ft. Any obstruction definitely degrades performance. Not what you would expect. Buyer beware!

Customer Review: They keep breaking.. but Carlon keeps replacing them for me
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased 5 of these about 8 months ago and I've had 3 of them stop working. However, I just called Carlon up and they mail me new ones so the customer service is really good. I like the product a lot when it's working. I have an unfinished basement so it's really cool to be able to control the light sockets with wall switches.

Customer Review: works as advertised
Summary: 4 Stars

These switches are very handy, particularly for light fixtures hidden in closets that are operated by pull cords. Works just as though the switch were connected to the fixture by wire. Not as applicable for exposed bulbs or those in tight spaces due to the size of the adapter that must be screwed in the light socket.

Customer Review: Convenient.
Summary: 4 Stars

A great convenience to be able to install a remote light switch in a different location and the switch&socket works well for the most part... although it can be a bit twitchy at times (ie. may need to flip the switch more than once to turn on the light). Still, a good alternative to installing new electrical wiring.
