Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain CLDM1 Clicker Garage Door Monitor

Customer Review: Very pleased.
Summary: 5 Stars

The garage door monitor was delivered promptly, in perfect condition. It was simple to install; you just stick it to the inside of the garage door with velcro. The indicator hangs or sits wherever it is most useful. In my case, it hangs on a little nail at the end of the hallway where I can see it easily. A tiny green light is on if the door is closed, and a red one is on if it's open. It is inobtrusive and simple. Actually, the gentleman who installed my garage door recommended it. It gives me peace of mind. I wish I'd bought it years ago.
Two and a half years later, I must say, it's been working great, is a wonderful safety feature, and I wouldn't do without it.

Customer Review: Works, but has problems
Summary: 3 Stars

We had our monitor set up about 40 feet from the sensor, but even at half that distance, it had the same issues. When the garage door was open it showed the flashing red light, just like it is supposed to. But when the door was down the light was sometimes green, but often times you got the red and green flashing lights. This problem seemed to be worse during cold weather. During the day this was fine since we knew that only the flashing red meant that the door was open, but it you wake up in the middle of the night and see this light flashing green and red, it can give you a jolt of panic until your awake enough to remember what that means.

Customer Review: Garage Door Monitor may not fit your needs
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased the Chamberlain Door Monitor and am not using it where I wanted. I wanted to install it on my garage [Clopay] door but it would require a special mount to work. I liked the design because it alarms when the raises only a few inches (my old one alarms at about 18 inches). I also bought the motion sensor as a second sensor. Both sensors worked but I could not tell which was alarming. If one alarmed then there was a constant beep which could be disabled. It would be better if it beeped only a few time the flashed the light. It was just not a fit for my application. I probably will use it elsewhere but not soon.

Customer Review: works great
Summary: 5 Stars

Maybe I got lucky, but this product works for me as advertised. I synchronized them, just as written in instructions, put one piece on the garage door and then checked reception throughout the house. I settled on a location (for the receiver) two floors above the garage, near a power plug. It has been working like a charm for a month now.
While checking for appropriate location for the receiver I only found two shadows, one behind our fridge and one behind one of the bathrooms (too many water pipes?).
We left our garage door open overnight about 5 times last year. Well, not anymore. I would recommend to anybody.

Customer Review: Well worth the price...
Summary: 4 Stars

I have now been using the Chamberlain garage door monitor for ~6 months and it works great.

I have a detached garage and the base unit works anywhere in the house. I really wasn't expecting the range to be that good. The only other worry I had when installing it was having to reapply tape to the back of the sensor unit on the garage door, but to my surprise it has stayed in position now through extreme temperature variations (from -20 F to 95 F).

The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 is because I agree with some of the other reviews, aesthetically the design could have been better...
