I found the monitor to be simple to install and operate.
The things I didn't like are (1) the base unit must be plugged into a wall socket (not battery operated)and (2) the base unit requires an antenna which is just a thin wire sticking out the top which is easily bent (comes rolled up) but must be straight for the unit to work. My wife accidently bumped the antenna and the monitor stopped working (flashed red and green - open/shut) until the antenna was straightened again.

This garage door system is easy to install (it took me about 2 minutes)and worked after the receiver is plugged in. I kept the monitor indoor located about 70ft away from the transmitter. It would be better if an audible alarm is also provided.
I also bought another monitor system made by Skylink because it has the audible alarm, but the Skylink unit does not work and I did not get useful assistance from Skylink (see my comments on the Skylink unit).

Just one little flaw - very easy to install and the range is very good, which is not mentioned anywhere, but I would have liked the monitor/receiver to have some kind of sound when the door is left open for a set time. The monitor/receiver has a red light for letting you know the garage is up and a green light when its down. I would have liked it to alert you with an audio of some type. Other than that I would highly recommend it for anyone with a garage.Customer Review: Greatest idea ever!

Recently purchased this item after seeing it in a home repair magazine and am so glad I did. Although my garage is attached, there is no direct access to my home so the only way to know if the garage door was open was to go out the front door and check. Now, I just glance at the monitor from the comfort of my home and instantly know. Set-up was super easy and didn't take more than 5 minutes.
I would highly recommend this product!!

On December 1, 2010, I bought the Chamberlain CLDM1 Garage door monitor. It was defective right out of the package. Unfortunately, I shopped early for Christmas. I bought the product on December 1, 2010. After Christmas I hooked it up...bad news, because not only was it defective but I could not get a refund from Amazon because their policy limits returns to a 30 day window. Don't buy this product...and be careful shopping on Amazon.
