I Purchased the Chamberlain CLLAD Remote Light Control in order to have the ability to turn on a indoor house light from my car's HomeLink rearview mirror button (one of the 3 buttons that also control your garage door opener). It works just perfectly for about $15. The CLLAD just plugs into a receptacle, and your lamp then plugs into the CLLAD, then you program the HomeLink button per HomeLink instructions.
Now when we get home at night, I press my car's programmed HomeLink button to open the door on my detached garage, and another button to turn on an indoor house light. It's just that simple. We no longer enter into a dark house.
Remember, that the indoor light must be left in an on position, and turned on or off using the switch on the CLLAD itself, so select a receptable that you can easily reach. If you use the switch on the lamp itself to turn it off, you lose remote capability.
NOTE: I did program the CLLAD to HomeLink while it was plugged into a garage receptacle so that I could see that once programmed, I would be able to press the HomeLink button and see that the light did toggle on or off without having to keep going into the house.
