Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain PD432D 1/2-Horsepower Screw Drive Garage Door Opener

Customer Review: A GUYS' HOME PROJECT.
Summary: 4 Stars

This opener is well thought out when it comes to the home-owner installation. You need to be a bit handy as far as making the necessary hanger brackets as needed for your particular setup. I chose to use cotter pins instead of the cheezy "springy looking keepers" sent to secure the 3 mounting pins (you will know what I mean when you see them) although what they sent would work OK. The tec-talk about the remotes and possible problems made me a bit nervous but all worked well with no fuss. Purchased the wireless entry unit and it connected via the smart button to problem. Wall mounted wired control works well and gives an extra light when needed via a button and you can shut off the light after operation to save energy with ease. The wall mount control seems a bit flimsy though, needs a back to give it a bit more structure. Instructions seem well thought-out. Good opener for the money!

Customer Review: Great product and service.
Summary: 5 Stars

Ordered and the big box showed up 2 days later. Must have been shipped from a local distributor. Box delivered in good condition and well packaged. Clear instructions. I installed it myself. Works great. Much quieter than the Genie screw drive that broke down after 13 years. Better design than my Genie as follows:
- lights in front and back of the motor lighting up the whole garage, not just one side.
- screw is maintenance-free, need no periodic greasing which could drip on your head.
- the sensors are protected behind the clamps, not exposed in front of them.
Amazon had the lowest price on the web and ship the product promptly. Now I just have to see if this Chamberlain will outlast my previous Genie.
Very happy customer for now.

Customer Review: Super easy to install
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a very easy project if you are replacing an existing Chamberlain garage door opener. Simply removed the old opener and replaced with the new opener. Easy to assemble with clean instructions. I used the existing sensors and switch so the job went fast, installed within a couple of hours and I was taking my time. If starting from nothing, this install may take 4-8 hours depending on experience. Be sure the door spring is balance, as I had to adjust the spring tension on my door before I installed the new one. The screwdrive operation is the way to go, far better than chain drive. Quieter and slightly faster than my old one.

Customer Review: Not Bad
Summary: 3 Stars

Installation took me 5 hours, this includes removal of old unit and beefing up new attachment points. This unit is pretty slow. Takes 12 seconds to go up or down. My 22 year old chain drive took 10 seconds. Very quite I think. The keyless wireless unit is not included. This costs another $27. My old keyless wasn't compatible with this opener. Instructions could be better. After assembling the track, flip it over before mounting it on the motor head assy. Also, twist both of the white with black stripe wires from each eye together and then do the same with both white wires before inserting into the head assy. Otherwise it's pretty good

Customer Review: @ 1 month
Summary: 4 Stars

It was similar to the Genie in regards to installation.(Did it my self. Took about 2.5 hours) I like that the motion sensor turns on the light. I hope it lasts longer then the last 2 Genie openers I have had in the past 8 years. In the other bay I have a New England garage door opener (which is only professionally installed) and has held up for 20 years. I hope this one lasts as long. It does not have a 2X open speed, but I can live with that. It has smaller sealed sensors that are wired to the main unit.
