Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain PD752D 3/4-Horsepower Heavy-Duty Premium Chain Drive Garage Door OpenerCustomer Review: Great buy Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this on Amazon, about a month ago.
Package very compact. Unpacking, assembly, installation and tuning all very simple.
I installed it in about 4 hours, and I am a moderately experienced handyman - know my way around tools, but not a professional by a long shot. You will need some mounting hardware (brackets for hanging up the motor), wrench and a high ladder (along with usual tools - screwdriver, drill &c). I also needed a metal saw - if your garage door is sectional and the garage is not very high, the driver arm needs some cutting (as per instruction manual).
Most labor-consuming bit is hanging the motor up to the ceiling. I recommend getting an extra pair of hands for that. Everything else is easily done by a single person. Installing security system and tuning was a breeze.
The opener is very quiet indeed - very hight quality product.
The remote works seamlessly with HomeLink button in my car.
I had zero issues so far - will update if anything comes up, but overall I am a happy camper.

took longer to program than install. this unit replaced a 30 year old overhead door unit. i hope i get 30 years of faithfull service from it. it used the existing brackets and went up like a champ. programing the remotes were a nightmare. everytime we added an aditional remote it knocked out one that was already set up. we added a third opener (another 25 dollars) and a key pad (another 35 dollars). it took an afternoon to install and three days to program the remotes to work like we wanted to. very quite unit while operating. the only noise is the door creaking. we have a very heavy composite door with no windows. unit lifts it with easy. chain drive is very smooth with no jerking. the trick is to adjust your springs right. the opener really only works hard lowering the door. the double lights are nice. the old unit had only one and you can turn on just the kights without opening the door. overall i like it and contact me in 30 years to see if it stands the test of time. the key pad (additional purchase) is a lot nicer than the old overhead door one.
Customer Review: Premium Garage Door Opener Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 3 and 3 10ft extensions. Having never installed a garage door opener I didn't know what to expect putting them in my newly constructed garage. The contractor quoted me $550.00 per door parts and laber. I got these Chamberlains for around $170.00, plus $50.00 on the rails.
I must say that the directions were amongst the best written and most thorough I've ever encountered on such a project. They were very easy to follow and explicit. Another rare occurrence was the fact that the hardware pack included was entirely complete (in all 3 units). Nothing was missing or wrong.
It took a day and a half on the first door, an entire day on the second and less than a day on the third. I worked mostly by myself and used my son only to help hold the rail and motor on the final attachment.
The doors work silently and only needed to be adjusted for 10ft instead of 8ft. That involved turning a screw about 10 revolutions...
I highly recommend this product and am impressed with the Chamberlain brand.
Customer Review: Well Designed Product Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased 2 of these openers to replace 10 yr old Chamberlains. Replacement is relatively easy for the do-it-yourselfer and the units are much faster and quieter than the older models. Electronics including the control panel, remote openers, and Protector system saftey sensors are not compatible with the older units, so pretty much everything must be replaced. The overhead rail system is a bit longer than the old one piece rail, so the new opener units must be moved about 3 inches further away from the door to compensate for this. Not a big deal - a couple of lag bolts. The units provide a good deal of light with two 100 watt bulbs in each unit. The wall mounted control panel is a motion detector, so the lights come on automatically when you enter the garage from the house. They also come on when the doors are opened or closed as did the older models. Be sure to replace the old springs when installing the new openers. Thanks to my son for the installation.
Customer Review: Chamberlain garage door opener, 3/4 hp. Summary: 5 Stars
Item was delivered by UPS in a well-packed and cushioned container - unpacking and layout of parts confirmed that everything was there and in the proper amounts - the instructions were straightforward, well illustrated, and clear. - detailed steps were logically arranged and easy to follow.
From start to finish, it took about 3 hours to complete the installation, taking my time, and with no help. - setup instructions were easy to follow and comprehensive, and troubleshooting hints were helpful.
One of the remote control units (of 2) in my unit proved bad. A call to the support number given got me a real human who could also speak english! - a new unit was quickly sent with no need to return the bad one.
Coming from a maint. background, I can say that this was an easy, well documented installation. - the unit has proven to be very reliable, strong, and quieter than the older unit it replaced. I can reccomend it with no reservations
