Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain PD752D 3/4-Horsepower Heavy-Duty Premium Chain Drive Garage Door OpenerCustomer Review: Incompatible Remotes!! Summary: 3 Stars
Installation no problem, works fine, replaced a 10 year old model with stripped gears. BUT, the new opener and remotes are not compatible with existing remotes for my other Chamberlain garage door opener (about 5 years old) and the overhead console remote in my Yukon. Very annoying. Of course, I can buy a converter to adapt the old to the new, but then I will need additional openers also, and still wont work with Yukon remote! Seems like a bit of a racket, unless it was some government intervention in frequency use or something! I notice other door opener companies do not seem to have changed frequency.
Customer Review: Top shelf Summary: 5 Stars
I have had the 3/4 horse model in for several weeks now. It performs flawlessly. I am using is on a 18x8 door with high wind bracing, very heavy door. Once I got it adjusted, as instructed, it performs very well.
It did take several hours to install as I was working alone. Get help with the install and it will go alot faster.
You might need to pick up some additional hardware for supporting of the unit, especially if you have a high ceiling.
Also, the dual lights really add to the amount of light and makes this a more desirable product over a single light unit.
Customer Review: 60 seconds to install? No way! Summary: 2 Stars
Now I admit it, I am in no way a handyman. All I did to install this thing was attach the rail to the motor. After that major in pain in the neck, I decided to pay someone to install it. It took this professional handyman four or five hours to install. There were pieces missing. The motor was meant for the beams to run in one direction and mine run in the other direction, which required even more parts. However, once you finally get this baby installed, it is very quiet. Unfortunately, that doesn't help too much since I have a loud aluminum garage door.
Customer Review: barn door opener Summary: 5 Stars
The quality of the door opener was excellent but the hardware--the cheap ass metal angle brackets were junk. They had to be 20 gauge steel (barely steel at all). I went to Lowes and replaced the angle iron brackets w/ some real metal 12 gauge and now I feel much more secure about those brackets holding up my new opener to the ceiling. The directions were good but I still can't get the remotes to work in all the various cars that I have---I'll have to spend more time w/ the instructions or maybe go to the 800# if all else fails. Very fast shipping also.
Customer Review: Excellent quality and much cheaper through Amazon Summary: 5 Stars
This exact same garage door opener was quoted from local installers for over $400 just for the unit and then more to install. We got it new through Amazon and then had it professionally installed for less than $150. It is strong but very quiet. And I love that the sensor activates the interior light when you pass it. Our sensor is installed near the door into our house so stepping out into the garage activates the light. Perfect for when my hands are full and I don't want to deal with searching for the light switch!
