Tools and Hardware Reviews of Liftmaster 61LM(8/9 Dip Switch) Garage Door Remote Transmitter(See Tech. Details Below)

Customer Review: The real thing; better than the "universal" garage door remotes!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought a house, and the two remotes that they provided us were in really bad shape. So bad that one did not work at all and the other one that worked did not have a battery cover. So, I began my attempt at replacing them at Lowes and purchased a "universal" garage door opener that promised to work with my 1992 Lift-Master garage door. Did it work? Absolutely not. The remotes (which were $34+ each) went back to the store ASAP.

So I did a little homework (actually, I called my wife, who was at home, and she did the homework). She climbed on a step ladder and looked for the model number. With that info, we figured out that this remote was the right one.

And it was!!! Works like a charm. It even comes with a battery, right out of the box!!! I just had to adjust the dip switches (yes, my garage door motor is so old that it does not have a "learning" button) and presto, remote access to my garage.

Oh, and in case you are wondering what my garage door model is, I don't remember, but it's not important. Just do an internet search for compatible remotes, and then come to Amazon and I guarantee you will find it.

Customer Review: Seems as Good as the Previous Remote.
Summary: 5 Stars

This replaced an old opener of the same type. The previous opener survived some serious abuse and this one also seems well built. The range on this seems a bit better than the one I replaced, but the effect is marginal. It took less than a minute to get the product running and we haven't had a problem.
FYI
Make sure you have 8/9 DIP switch remote. If you take the battery cover off your old remote you should see a block with 8 or 9 little switches on it. This is the DIP switch.

Customer Review: Works perfectly
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought 3 of these, very happy. Sometimes have to press twice to get it to work, but thanks to a previous reviewer, we knew to expect that. Also, a previous reviewer mentioned that they had to switch DIP switch 1 to the opposite direction, and we had to do the same thing. We've used these for about a year and have been very pleased. I'd say we'd buy these again, but I expect these will last for some time. The price and delivery were wonderful.

Customer Review: replacement remote works just fine.
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a replacement for a unit no longer sold by Sears. In fact, the manufacturer has no recommmendation for a replacement unit, so I was pleased when the outfit I bought it from (Sanford & Son)recommended it. The remote has good range (unlike what some other reviewers mentioned). I do have to hold down the button a bit longer than I'm used to, but hey, so what. What else do I have to do whilst driving up the driveway?

Customer Review: Perfect Craftsman Replacement
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed to replace my vintage 1990 craftsman remote control. I purchased a different manufacturer that was supposedly universal and found out it really was not. This manufacturer/model worked perfectly with my 9 dip switch system. The only odd thing I had to do was to switch DIP switch 1 to the opposite direction. After I did that, it has worked better than my old remotes every did.
