Tools and Hardware Reviews of Liftmaster 81LM/850CB Remote Control Transmitter(See Tech. Details Below)

Customer Review: Worked fine with our 1990s Sears Craftsman opener
Summary: 5 Stars

I believe Sears, Liftmaster and Chamberlain were all relabeled versions of the same devices. These worked perfectly with my late 90s "green learn button" Sears Craftsman garage opener.

Compare to the Craftsman Remote Control Smart Compact with 3-Functions: 1993-2004 models $40 Sears Item# 00953859000 | Model# 53859 and Craftsman Remote Control Smart 3-Function $40Sears Item# 00953879000 | Model# 53879 each listing for $40. Obviously these are a better deal.

Shipping was fast, packaging was fine, and they come with excellent instructions.

Note that the 1990s Sears garage openers can only support five remotes. If you teach more than that they will dump the first memorized device.

Customer Review: Inexpensive and work well
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought a bank-owned property and found that the remote control for the garage door is missing. I called a garage door company and they tried to sell me one with a 2.5x price. I decided to search it online and found this one at Amazon. The shipping is faster than I expected. After reading the instruction, I took less than one minute to set up two remote controls. The big button is what I need, opening and closing the garage door. Many remote controls have bells and whistles. The manufactory tries to charge a premium. I'd rather spend money on other things. It has a reasonable remote range. The only downside is that it is difficult for me to open the battery cover. It is not a big deal. I highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Prompt delivery, good product
Summary: 5 Stars

We are living in a community. We lost our garage remote in a rental car. When we asked our leasing office, they said that they would charge us 50$ to give us another remote. But this product cost us only #20.

We searched a lot to find the compatible model for our garage unit. Somewhere we found this model (though that was not mentioned in the product description in Amazon) and ordered to give a try. Our luck, it worked fine.
Our Garage Model: Liftmaster 1245LM

Prompt delivery. Easy programming.
No issues so far.

Customer Review: Simple fix

Update 06-27-09: Still works fine.

Old remote gave out. New remote works a little better than the old remote's best days. New remote has some tactile feedback when the button is pressed. Old remote said just squeeze me, but you won't know if the switch bottomed out and made contact. Don't think there is a light on the rnew emote that shows the switch worked.

Range is about the same. Bought two retired old one to the laundry room so we can close the garage door from inside without installing a switch inside.

Customer Review: Craftsman is Simply the Best Brand in America
Summary: 5 Stars

What I really wanted to write about is the complete garage door opener by Craftsman, but I couldn't find the product at Amazon. This product is the closest I could come to express my gratitude: A craftsman garage door opener that was installed 18 years ago...I repeat, 18 YEARS AGO...stopped working when its motor failed. I went to the nearest Sears and bought another one. I DID NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE RAILING. I used bungee cords to hold the existing railing and simply replaced the motor. Everything worked. Done. Thank you.
