I spent some time reading the product descriptions and reviews of a few different remote controls and became convinced that this was the right one for my door opener. To sum it up without re-reading everything just make sure the square button or the antenna wire on your motor is the right color. I found information on both by reading this website. After pulling the car out, getting a ladder and removing the cover of the opener, it literally took 5 seconds to program it! Push the orange (I think) button on the motor, push the button on the remote and you're done. I chose this one with only one button instead of my original which had three because after 10 years, I've only used the one button. Otherwise it looks exactly like original one it replaced. Lowe's has one for around $36.00 and this was a little over $16 shipped to my front door. Tough one huh?Customer Review: Model 971LM vs Model 973LM Compatibility.

I wanted a new single-button garage door remote unit (971LM) to replace my somewhat confusing (and dead) 3-button unit (973LM). After reading a bit on the internet I concluded that the Lift-Master LM971 & LM973 were compatible. I was right. The single-button unit works just fine with my garage door opener.
The purchase was painless. The unit arrived about 5 days after I ordered it via U.S. Mail complete with a Delivery Confirmation sticker. Programming was easy and took about 30 seconds for the actual programming. The unit was in a little Lift-Master box which was packed inside of a padded mailer and arrived in great shape.
It arrived with a battery in the unit and with some extraordinarily clear programming instructions and it works just fine.
Every transaction in life should be this easy.

To verify this remote works with your unit, press the learn button on your overhead unit (remove the plastic light cover on the back side and look for a square button - mine is red). When you press the button the led light will light up. If yours is yellow, then this remote will work for you. I would suggest you immediately unplug and re-plug in your garage door opener to cancel the "learn" mode so that on the off chance that a neighbor is opening their garage door your door opener won't "learn" their code and start opening when they push their remote... but anyway...
Setup is as simple as that, press the learn button, then press the remote button. The unit will click and flash to let you know it is learned. Now the remote will work.
The remote also comes with battery and clip to mount to your car visor.

We were provided with two remotes when we got our garage door opener installed. They were both the Liftmaster 971LM Security Plus 1 button remotes. One of those remotes never did work very well. We would have to press the button multiple times to get it to work. We tried replacing the battery but that never helped. Finally I ordered another one of the same model remote from Amazon. It was very easy to program our garage door to accept the new remote. And this remote works great. I don't know why there was a problem with the original one, or if it is very common to have a problem with this model remote, but we are very happy with the other two.Customer Review: Great service, delivery, and product

The Chamberlain Liftmaster Garage Door Opener has been working great. I ordered it from Samford & Sons on Amazon and I couldn't believe how fast it was delivered. I was expecting it to be on the later side of their expected delivery, but it came on the very earliest possible day. I was very impressed with this. The packaging was nicely done and everything was perfect when I opened up the box. I would definitely use Samford & Sons again to order from and I would ABSOLUTELY refer them to friends. I give my experience with this order 10/10. :) Homerun, perfect score, touchdown, Olympic gold, etc, etc.
