Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sears Craftsman Liftmaster Gear & Sprocket AssemblyCustomer Review: Complete Repair Kit Summary: 5 Stars
The kit contains all the parts needed to rebuild the drive assembly (other than the motor itself), including the worm gear, sprocket shaft and drive gear, and bushings, so I believe the picture of this product is incorrect. I didn't use the included worm gear or the shaft bushings but they would have been handy if I had needed to replace more than the drive gear itself.
As it was, I removed three screws and the keeper pin on the end of the drive gear shaft and the whole thing popped out without removing the motor. By the way, the three screw holes on replacement are not pre-threaded so I'd advise running the self tapping screws in and out of their holes a couple of times to cut the threads before putting the part in place. This eliminates trying to cut the threads while standing on a ladder with limited access to the hex screw heads.
I was impressed with the clearly written instructions. Rather than cryptic drawings intended for any language these instructions lead you through each step in clearly written English. Plus they include warnings and advice about how to do the steps. Buy the kit for the instructions alone and consider the well made parts to be a bonus.
If the only damage is to the drive, consider buying just the Drive Gear for Chamberlain Openers 1984-Current, which Amazon sells. This would involve a few extra steps to replace the sprocket on your existing assembly but it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to do so and you'll save some money. Unfortunately those instructions don't appear to come with the drive gear.
Finally, the most difficult part of the repair was understanding whether the kit would fit my Liftmaster 1250 model, since I had written down the part number for the circuit board rather than for the opener. Look at the end with the light bulb to find the model number. The prominent number on the antenna end is for the circuit board.
