This is my second smokeless ashtray. For the person who thought it makes too much noise, you should have heard the "As Seen On TV" smokeless ashtray I used to have. That thing would wake up the neighborhood even if it had a Midas muffler installed, so by comparison this one is quiet.
All I can say is this unit does a decent job at what it's supposed to do. If you live in an apartment and don't want to disturb the neighbors with extra smoke creeping out your door as you listen to, oh, I don't know, say the "Legend" album by Bob Marley, this one's for you. As for the smoke you exhale, there's still nothing on the market for that yet except a good old fashioned window but this smokeless ashtray sure keeps the smoke to a minimum. Now excuse me while I put 'Jamming' on again and raid the fridge.

This ashtray gizmo does a fine job of filtering out the 'idle' smoke caused when you set your smoke in the ashtray. It adds up to a lot less smoke in my music room, which is always a good thing.
I suppose the noise is related to the motor that pulls the air from the ashtray into the filter system, but a quiet room will not be so quiet with this baby running. Cleaner air good but noise is not so good.
Mine has lasted a few years and has to deal with cigar, cigarette, clove cigarette, etc., smoke frequently. At this rate, it will outlast my lung capacity.
I haven't regretted buying this smokeless ashtray or the extra filters.

it does work, as long as you have the cigarette placed in it - i 'm saying that cos i've noticed how my smoker friends have the habit to keep the cigarette between their fingers throughout the ... smoking ceremony.
you may become a bit annoying by reminding them to leave it in the tray after they've inhaled their smoke, but it's worth it.
I can't say if the batteries will last for a long time. So far so good.
Easy to clean, too.
It does have an annoying zzzzz sound, but you can turn it off once the cigarette is all smoked and done.

I have tried a few in the past number of years, however, I can unequivocally state that this particular one works exceedingly well.
One suggestion: I believe that I read somewhere that this unit, with the batteries removed can be washed. Don't do it. I did and it made the noise level much louder.
Otherwise, this unit is quiet and does all that is promised. It is certainly worth the price and I highly recommend it without reservation.

Since I don't know how this product performs yet due to not having the 2 (C) Batteries that this needs, I'll pick an average of 3 stars and take 1 away for not saying what batteries this takes and that they are not included with the product.
I may amend this review one day when I remember to go out and pickup the DADGUM batteries. I can't even remember the last time I had something that uses (C) batteries. Oh the nostalgia of it...
