I think this is my favorite LED flashlight. I have an embarassingly large number of different LED lights. I bought one of these about 5 years ago from Lowe's. I just put in the third set of batteries and I use it alot. The price does seem ridiculous but...
- O-ring seals
- focused single element light.
- Gold coated spring contacts!
- All the conducting elements on the battery carrier are gold coated. Corroded contacts must be the leading cause of flashlight failure and unreliability.
- The switch; the switch ahs a click full on and a momentary position. It is easy to hold the switch in the momentary position and that is the way I mostly use it. I can hold it for minutes without my thumb going necrotic. It is large and soft and has a long enough throw to keep it from going on in your pocket, case or bag.
- Light dispersion: It does not have that hot spot the 3 AA cell LED Maglight has. It is softer and more fully tapered. Wider than the straight LED with built in lens.
- The black finish has held up well even with keys in the same pocket.
- The knurled grip has a good secure feel to it.
This is a great flashlight. I don't see this version anymore at Lowe's. One other thing. I have the red and white light version. There are two stud switches 180 degress aprat for the white and red lights. The white light switch has a rough texture and the red switch is smooth. I still get it wrong from time to time. I do find it on in my briefcase from time to time.
I like this one better.
