Customer Review: Wire-Tek an Outstanding mole trap!!!!!! Avoid Trapline traps, make a mess installing/removing and did not catch anything

I have had moles driving me nuts after I re-sodded parts of my lawn (the sod brought in the insects that the moles went after).
First: I used the Trapline mole traps, the Youtube video makes these traps look like mole magnets, and when he catches two moles in "the same" tunnel at the same trap location I should have known it was questionable. I have since learned that moles are very territorial and do not share tunnels. Any way, cleaned traps with 70% isopropanol, wore nitrile gloves, caught NOTHING, all I got was more of a mess because you have to dig up the tunnel to place the traps, and to remove them, and after I removed the always "unsprung traps" the moles "never" used that run again (even though they had been using it every 2-3 days for a week prior to my trapping it). That is another major problem with the Trapline trap, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT HAS GONE OFF. Also, I think "my" moles are pretty smart and recognized that the Trapline trap, which they come into contact with in the tunnel BEFORE reaching the trap trigger, was foreign and dangerous. The other thing is the directions say to keep the trigger area free of dirt, otherwise it will effect the trigger sensitivity. Well I tried to do that, but in my sandy soil it was impossible to keep the trigger clean when inserting the trap into the tunnel. Maybe that is why in the Youtube video the guy is always setting traps in grass/soil that is really wet? That was another part of the video that seemed odd to me, along with the guy ALWAYS pulling out a trap with a dead mole in it.
Second: I used a Bayer insecticide (24 hr kill, with 3 month extended kill) which worked for about 2 1/2 months but then the moles came back. Worse, in one area that had been sprayed 2 weeks earlier, the mole went crazy making surface tunnels all over trying to find insects. On top of that, I got tired of having to spray my entire lawn with a toxic chemical so often (toxic to insects, fish, and humans-read the label). I live in a part of Florida where the moles are active year round. At this point I wanted to get rid of the moles for good.
Third: On the recommendation of an experienced mole trapper who used the Wire-Tek trap, I bought the Wire-Tek mole trap, cleaned the scissors with 70% isopropanol, wore nitrile gloves, it had a hair trigger and the first time went of right away so first time nothing, second and third times I set the trap on a fresh surface run and BINGO!!, I got the mole in the front yard and two moles in the back yard (one was really large the other very small) in a total of 7 days, what a relief. Not sure what to make of the other reviewer's comment about his moles being too small for this trap (he recommended the Trapline trap), maybe he did not have the trap set properly so that is was level-see below. The distance between the trap's scissors and trigger are the same for the Wire Tek trap and the Trapline trap. My front and back lawn look good again. What is great about this trap is that you do not damage your lawn trapping the moles (like the Trapline trap does), it just makes two small slots in the grass when you insert it and when you set it the scissors open "under ground", IT IS SO EASY TO SET. If the soil does not have tree/palm roots the mole will be pulled out with the trap, but if your in an area with a lot of roots and the tunnel is deeper the roots can pull the DEAD mole off the trap since you only make a small slot in the grass when inserting the trap. Excellent design, and you know when the trap is sprung because the trap goes from being 2" high (set) to 10" high when sprung. Also this trap is powerful and kills the mole very quickly. I keep the trap covered with a large inverted plastic bucket to protect it when it rains. This product is great!!! Follow the directions and use a pencil to probe for the surface tunnels, when you find a surface run use your heel to collapse it at "one spot" and put the trap right their (deeper "surface" runs do not have an obvious "tunnel dome" along the surface, just mounds of dirt at intervals along the run). Some dirt mounds you see are "not" from surface runs they are from deeper tunnels that you can not trap, the pencil will allow you to find a surface run to trap (I look for a foot to foot and a half long surface run to trap). Also, trap new runs (ones with freshly "cracked" soil in the mounds along the run), and if no result in 1 day move to a new location. The only tricky part is getting the dead mole out of the trap (I hold both sides of the base plate and use my knee to press on the lever). Also, MAKE sure the round trigger pan is flush with the ground (not angled up) and the frame of the trap is level with the ground (if not, rock trap with foot to level both). If the trigger pan and trap frame are not level it will "not go off". I figured if Amazon would sell it then it was good, and it is GREAT. Thank you Amazon and Wire Tek (Made in USA).
