Lysol by Conair SC11L Multipurpose Steam-Cleaning System
I read the reviews on this AFTER my purchase and thought, Oh, you idiot! But on receiving it I was glad I went with my first instinct. Conair and Lysol are both good names. It's not a top of the line wall-paper blasting steamer, but a good, solid tool for the home. Almost all of the complaints I read are addressed in the instruction booklet, so a quick reading might prevent frustration. The attachments are plastic, and plastic is by nature "flimsy" but the unit itself is a very sturdy item and I expected it to be heavy - water tends to be - and I have a bad wrist and had no problem. I recommend setting aside the little attachments, (which common sense will tell you are going to be weak because the force of the steam diminishes down the length of the hose) and using the steam power concentrator just as it is. The Lysol cleaner is kind of superfluous, as you buy a steamer to AVOID chemicals.
I used it (and purchased it) as a safe cleaner for my birdcages and aquariums. It blasted ancient mineral deposits off glass, removed bird droppings (which are strangely difficult to clean) and took adhesive residue off. I used plain water, no toxin worries, and since I know hot water or steam kills mites and allergens, will be using it to "de-allergen" my house.
No, it's not hot enough to remove wallpaper (or skin) so it's pretty safe. You need to be looking in the $200 range for that - rent one if you need to do heavy jobs. This is the equivalent of a nice mid-price vaccuum cleaner, affordable, simple and effective 99% of the time.
Steam is useful in itself. The attachments are unnecessary. Leave the little trimmings in the box (they are probably 5% of the total price) and use the powerful steam jet for your cleaning. Use the sponges to wipe up. Simple is good.
