I have owned the Weller D550 Professional gun for years (260/200 watts) but it just wasn't up to the big jobs like soldering starter brushes and 14 gauge (and up) electrical wiring. I was hesitant to buy a new unit with only 40 more watts but it made a noticeable difference in warm-up time and in heat applied to the solder joint. The D650 Industrial Soldering Gun also seems to have heavier windings and is physically a bit larger. I haven't tried it on sheet metal yet and would be interested in others experiences. It is important to read the manual supplied, especially the part about re-tightening and cleaning the tip occasionally for best operation. Highly recommended.
