For quite some time I was struggling with the two soldering pencils that I had on hand -- specifically, trouble melting the solder. It was very frustrating and added much more of my time to complete simple projects. I decided to purchase the Weller WES51, and what a difference!! Previously I had used soldering irons in the $15-$20 range. I finally decided to splurge and upgrade to the Weller WES51. I used to think I was just really bad at soldering. Now all my joints look perfect. Heats up very quickly. LED lets you know where you are at. If I could give it 6 stars I would. One of the most satisfying purchases I have ever made.

This little Weller has quickly become a best friend on my list of electronic tools. IT heats up very quickly, has an excellent fit and comfortable feel to the iron in my hand, and is just the right size for delicate work. This is a great iron. I had a few things stolen during moving (why they'd want to steel a soldering iron I don't know). I'd had mine for 4 or 5 years and it worked flawlessly. I bought this one as a replacement and it work just as great as the first one. If this one got stolen too, I'd replace it with this same station again!!Customer Review: The Best Iron I Ever Had

This unit is just remarkable in my opinion. The temp control is great when considering sensitive components and different types of solder. The stand is good to. I've used this now for a few months and it's the best iron I have ever owned. It seems so well made that I hope I can give it to one of my kids someday.
