Customer Review: Useless as a step stool.

The stool is smaller than the old-time stools of the 1940s, so sitting on it works only if you are child size.
The step easily becomes separated from the stool and has to be refit into place every time the stool is moved.
The steps are very small and standing on them is precarious, at best.
We were going to give ours to the GoodWill, but they're really to dangerous to pass on. Instead, ours are going straight to the recycle depot.

The Cosco 111-120CBB1 Retro Chair and Stool was sent in a box to be put together following the included instructions. The main problem I had was trying to tighten the legs--they wouldn't. Then my son took over and found that he couldn't tighten the legs either, but when he assembled the rest of the chair with side rails and steps, it didn't matter that the legs weren't fastened tightly. Now that the Chair & Step Stool is assembled, it's quite nice, and very useful.Customer Review: Wonderful Chair/Step Stool

We are very happy with this product. It was everything we hoped it would be. It is very sturdy and nice looking. Shipping was very fast, and assembly was not too difficult. It has been very handy and useful addition to our kitchen so far, and we are very glad we purchased this chair. Our only complaint would be the high cost of shipping which seemed a bit excessive for the size and weight of the box that it came in which was not all that big or heavy at all.Customer Review: Not a quality product

Assembly was fairly simple, but overall, this is not a quality product. As a way of saving costs, the slide mechanism that allows the steps to be pulled out is a slotted piece of plastic that guides two pegs on the steps. One gets the feeling that the steps will fall off if the stool is picked up.
I get nervous when my wife stands on the second step, but it works well as a seat for our 2-year-old grandchild at the dinner table.

Love this stool that reminds me of Grandma's house. The only reason it did not receive 5 stars is that the stool part is not level. I worked and worked and could not get it level. Not sure what it problem is. It still works okay though. The only instructions for assembly were in French. There were good diagrams and my sister-in -law grew up in France so we got it together. My 19 month old loves to climb up and down and the steps are just right.
