My husband and I had no problems putting this chair together. It is quite sturdy. My young grandsons enjoy using it as much as I do. The track system for the steps does not stay in place, however this is a minor problem for me. I looked everywhere for one of these chairs and I was very pleased to find it. The red color is fun and cheery. I have back pain and this chair makes it much less painful to work in the kitchen for long periods of time.Customer Review: Cosco Stepstool

My husband and I needed a kitchen chair/stool and step-stool this was a perfect combination. We found it very easy to put together and it fits perfectly in our small kitchen. I remember my grandmother's in her kitchen and I love the retro look. It is smaller than the original one and if that is what you're trying to find then you may not be satisfied with this stool. I was a little concerned when I read some of the reviews but I love this chair. It's sturdier than some reported and I use it fairly regularly as a step stool to get into my upper kitchen cabinets. It's true that it isn't the same as my grandmothers was but it's still nice and looks good. I believe hers had a track that the steps slid along and these steps are just loose but it works okay. I have an older version of this chair that finally fell apart on me after 25 years of use. The steps that pull out from this Retro chair is different than my original one however. My original chair had steps that pulled up and out. The steps on the new one, slides out from under the chair. Since I wasn't used to this layout, I found it a bit awkward at first. This was a replacement for an extremely old step stool that my mother had for many years. She is 90 and the family wanted to find something easy for her to sit on in the kitchen while she prepared meals. This was perfect. It came unassembled and my grandson was able to put it together in a relatively short amount of time. The steps slide out easily and it is light enough for my mom to move around the kitchen. A perfect choice.
