Tools and Hardware Reviews of Crawford-Lehigh LA84P-1 Large Capacity Deluxe Parallel Clothes Dryer

Customer Review: Instant clothesline
Summary: 4 Stars

I read the reviews and wanted something like this after using the famous "Clothes Hoist" in OZ (Australia). This little dryer doesn't have an up crank and is lightweight, but for a small load does fine. I wanted it to be portable so I could move it into the sun when it got into the shade so I inserted it into my umbrella table. I put the plastic holder on after it was planted and rested it on a paver and the thing will spin in a breeze. Weigh down the table to prevent tipping and you can use the table to rest the clothes basket.
It came very unprofessionally wrapped in a white plastic sheath and was a little bunged up, but not broken like some reviewers experienced. The plastic ground holder can be skinned off the shaft by the bottom hole of the table when you are stowing it. I stow it after every use.
The lines are weak and sag because you can only put so much tension on them. I hang most of my wash on hangars and twist the lines together to hold the hangars from sliding.
It is made of lightweight anodized aluminum and snaps together and deploys well. It is a good piece of engineering, too bad the packers dropped the ball. It annoyed me that I had to pound out the dent in the tubing to be able to put on the plastic holder and it barely goes on and is too tight as a result.
You could use this indoors or on a porch using the table. It is very light and stows easily.

Customer Review: Easy way to go GREEN
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are looking to save money on you energy bills, this is the way to go! Easy to install ground socket, easy to put up, easy to take down. I like the fact it's removable from the ground, makes it easy to mow around. I guess one word says it all... EASY.

It should pay for itself in a very short time with the reduced electric dryer usage. I dry almost everything except on it bath/beach towels (too scratchy) and jeans (too stiff). Especially sheets and blankets. They smell so fresh! I still use my electric dryer for towels and jeans.

Heat drying can damage many clothes, specially those that contain nylon and Spandex or anything with rubber elastic. So using this dryer can increase the usage life of many types of clothing, especially undergarments.

The fact that it's removable from the ground should increase the dryers usage life. I store it in my walk-in closet when not in use, keeping it safe from strong winds and storms.

The only negative thing I have to say is that I have to plan my usage around the weather. But that's not the product's fault.

I looked around in the local Lowes and Home Depot for these but they were not carried... I bet they would sell like crazy if they did.

My mother is very sceptical about ordering something on line. But once she saw mine, she asked me to order her one too.

Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted!
Summary: 5 Stars

I looked everywhere for an Umbrella style clothes line, and couldn't find one that suited me. Most were cheaply constructed and small. I was looking for one that could easily hold a full load of laundry and was easy to install. And this is it! Easy to set up, with step-by-step instructions, swivels easily to make it easier to put clothes on it, and holds a full load of laundry, with room to spare!

This is exactly what I wanted, and I didn't have to pay a fortune for it, either (though I would have).

The only negative about it is that one of the arms is slightly dented and bent ever-so-slightly askew, because of the rough handling that the unit went through while being shipped UPS. I know that the manufacturer couldn't control that, but I think a reinforced box would have been a nice idea, as the package is extra long, and those conveyors at UPS are dangerous for abnormally shaped or sized packages.

However, the bent arm isn't even noticeable once it was set up and opened, and it certainly doesn't affect the integrity or the use of the Clothesline at all! I love it, and would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants a clothesline that will do the job with the least amount of hassle and fuss.

Customer Review: Best portable clothes dryer
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading all the reviews, I purchased this clothes dryer. I have been wanting one for a very long time. I followed the instructions for burying in the ground. I gave it a 4 star because it came out of the ground after I had poured the concrete on it
when I used it for the first time. After that little disappointment, I cleverly came up with a plan that would kill 2 birds with one stone. I had wanted a cooking area for my bbq grill to sit on(concrete platform) so I dug out a 6x6 area for that and planted the pole in the same hole that I had originally dug (along with the concrete that was still on the pole) and dug a little deeper around that area and made my platform. I let it set for a week before I used it(giving it time to really dry) and to my surprise when I used it today, it didn't move. Now when I have a cook out, I can just fold up the dryer and it's out of the way and no one knows that I hang my clothes outside. I love how you can stand in one place and the clothes come to you. Despite the extra little work I had to do for it, it was a worth while investment in helping out the planet while the planet helps me dry my clothes.

Customer Review: going strong
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this outdoor clothes dryer in April and have used it nearly daily since. It holds 3-4 full loads of clothes (four boys under 10 makes for lots of laundry). I have enjoyed this clothes line and intend to buy a new one when we move or if this one ever gets blown away. I like the ease of taking it down when a storm is coming. I have had to retighten the lines about 3 times in 6 months. That's not bad considering I put far more than the recommended poundage of laundry on it. It doesn't advertise as a spinning line, but mine does manage to spin, or atleast move so I don't have to. I call it my "ghetto line dryer" although I placed it so it can't be seen from the street. Only my backyard neighbors know I have it. I have the lowest bill on the block thanks to my line drying, fireplace use in winter and opening the windows in the summer. This is definatly doing something "green" for the environment. No more toxic dryer sheets, no more electric waste. No more bleach is needed either because the sun whitens my whites very well. Free sunshine is the best clothes dryer of all times and my lehigh line holds the clothes up very well.
