Tools and Hardware Reviews of Crawford-Lehigh LA84P-1 Large Capacity Deluxe Parallel Clothes DryerCustomer Review: If you have a straight wire line for drying, consider yourself lucky Summary: 3 Stars
If you can run wire from pole to pole to hang clothes, do that! I am not comfortable with this rotating clothesline. First of all, you have to really know how to place the clothes on those inside lines. If you don't start at the point near the pole, you run into trouble. The clothesline boasts 19ft. drying space, but I never get that. I find it too troublesome to hang on the inside lines. PLUS, the clothes on the inside take longer too dry.
Second, the adjustable line tension continues to loosen up. Hanging sheets can be tricky. And, you must evenly distribute the wet clothes, otherwise, you will cause the pole to lean. The metal is lightweight, meaning; it could bend and break easily.
The pole can be removed from the ground, and do so in the cold winter, because it can freeze up. I kept mine up all winter, but noticed days when it froze and wouldn't revolve. The line is easy to open and close and you can store it.
You can install the ground socket in concrete for more stability. Again, I prefer I straight clothes line stretched from pole to pole. ....Rizzo
Customer Review: A little lightweight, but easy to use and great way to save electricity Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this last year and finally got it installed this past weekend as we had such lovely weather. I am a big greenie so was keen to get a washing line and stop using the dryer. We concreted the sleeve into the ground in the middle of the lawn. I love that you can pop the dryer in and out so easily to mow or to put it away in the winter. However, I dont think the sleeve is long enough in relation to the height of the dryer, so you need to evenly hang clothes around the lines. I hung too much on the sunny side and it started to tilt and cracked the concrete! Not badly, but enough to make me aware that I need to balance it better. I am used to really sturdy permanent ones that you can hang clothes on any side. So just keep that in mind. Overall, for the price and ease of use, plus that you can put it away so easily, I would recommend this. Plus with the price of electricity, it will pay for itself in less than a year according to my calculations, so you cant beat that!
Customer Review: We love our "solar clothes dryer" Summary: 5 Stars
Lehigh Large Capacity Deluxe Parallel Clothes Dryer #LA84P-1
We purchased this dryer at the end of June. It arrived in 2 days, WITH free shipping, and not prime. I love it. It arrived in great condition, no dents, dings, or even damaged packaging. We installed as directed with quick crete, that day, and after the concrete set we've used it every single day it hasn't been raining. We live in the very HOT south, so I never get more than two loads on it, they dry that fast.
I LOVE IT! And I hope my energy bill loves it this month too. So far, 3 wks, NO dryer running in the house.
Its easy to set up, and I did have to tighten the tension today. But not every time like some other reviews said. Its lightweight yet strong, and works like a charm!
Customer Review: Great dryer! Summary: 5 Stars
I am using the line for the first time today.
All seems well. When I received, the cap for the ground sleeve was broken, but does not really effect the usability, although I would prefer that it was not broken. Set it up with ease.
Have 3 loads -1 load of whites, 1 of lights, and 1 of darks- drying outside now! I ran out of clothes pins (bought a pack of 100)
The packaging with the dryer mentioned a 32 pound load limit. I thought that didn't sound like much, figuring wet clothes have some weight to them. I did weigh the light load (t-shirts and such) and it weighed 9 lbs (with basket). I did a load of jeans/shorts (hanging to dry on a wooden rack since I ran out of pins, but there would have been room on the dryer for these also!) that weighed in at 11.7 lbs.
Looking forward to putting this to use for a long time!
Customer Review: OK but not great Summary: 3 Stars
This is my first umbrella clothesline. I like its large capacity and my ability to rotate the lines around the central pole and hang clothes when standing in one place. It was easy to install the submerged support post in the ground (in a bit of concrete), and it's easy to collapse and remove the clothesline when not in use.
After 3 weeks' use, however, the nylon clothesline cord is stretching, and I need to keep tightening and retying it. Also, the two levers or pins--that are supposed to keep the four supporting spokes taut--keep slipping. Then the lines sag and I have to duck into the middle of the hanging items and try to force the levers tight again. Kind of tricky when the lines are full of wet, heavy cloth. It usually takes two people to manage this.
It's still good to be able to hang laundry outdoors, but I wonder if other support designs are firmer.
