Tools and Hardware Reviews of Crawford-Lehigh LA84P-1 Large Capacity Deluxe Parallel Clothes DryerCustomer Review: Easy to Assemble and Use Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this "clothes dryer" to us on our back deck from time to time to reduce energy costs from the use of our electric dryer. I was please with both the quality and easy assembly. Not to sound too much like an suburban "redneck" but the easiest way we found to use it was to removed the umbrella from center of of the table on our desk and simply place the shaft of the dryer in to whole. Hey! It works and can be inserted and removed quickly without fear of the wind blowing it over. It easily turns to take advantage of sun on wind for drying. We have used it about six months in all types of weather conditions. Heat, high winds, rain, snow and ice. We have place heavy clothing items on it and the cords have held up well. Because of the aluminum construction there is no rust to harm garments. A good choice. I'm please and more importantly so is my wife.
Customer Review: Parallel clothes dryer Summary: 5 Stars
Well, when I first got the product, I thought the box was empty; I guess I expected a heaver box however I was pleasently surprised when I opened it.
The frame is sturdy aluminum with beefy sliding collars of high impact plastic. All of the clothes line is a high strength poly rope that is plastic coated.
I opted to mount the vertical in a piece of couduit 3 feet long that I drove into the ground instead of the concrete form that is suggested. I don't believe the plastic base that is provided would have much strength just in the cement. I then installed the plastic base "inside" the conduit and sealed it with RTV sealant.
All in all, it's a great deal, works well and saves us money. I always remove and store the assembly when not in use so the UV doesn't destroy it. I keep it covered with an old pillow case.
Customer Review: Very good dryer!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
I wish this dryer rotated but you have to pay extra for that.
This is my first outdoor dryer and it was not to hard to install it. My husband and my son did that in about an hour.
I can dry clothes in this in about two hours and I love it!!!! Some clothes take even less time to dry and I have only used the electric dryer on a rainy day since I got this. I expect my electricity bill to decrease some.
Since I live in Texas I can use this dryer for most of the year but my savings will be the best in the summer I hope.
This dryer holds about two loads and the construction seems pretty good. I know it is not the top of the line but being my first one, I did not want to make a big investment. I will be very happy if it lasts three years.
I will update this review as time goes by.
Customer Review: weak clothesline Summary: 1 Stars
I've had nothing but problems with this clothesline. The 1st time I hung clothes on the line, the line tension disappeared, and the clothes were hanging down to the ground. Adjusting the tension did not work, as the umbrella would fall down after a while, and I had to insert nails into the holes to keep it up. That seemed to work ok, but then we had a heavy rain in the area, and this caused the the concrete and plastic sleeve to pop out of the ground, and the entire line to fall over into the wet grass. (I followed the instructions carefully to install it- dug the hole to the depth required, inserted the sleeve and concrete, etc.) Also, because the entire thing fell, a flimsy aluminum arm bent. This will not be repairable. I do not recommend this clothesline! I'll have to get another to replace it.
Customer Review: Love the Lehigh Clothes Dryer! Summary: 5 Stars
After deciding that purchasing an outdoor clothes dryer was something I wanted to do (for economical as well as environmental reasons), I scoped out the selection at my local home improvement store. They offered only one and it was nearly $50. I came home and looked on Amazon and came across the Lehigh Large Capacity Deluxe Parallel Clothes Dryer for about half the price of the one I had priced locally.
Long story, long I ordered the dryer from Amazon. It was pre-assembled and a breeze (pardon the pun) to put up in my backyard. All I needed was a small bag of concrete mix, and voila -- laundry with the fresh smell that only comes from line drying.
I highly recommend this product!
Regards from the foothills of North Carolina,
Gena
