Tools and Hardware Reviews of Crawford-Lehigh RC40 40-Feet Retractable ClotheslineCustomer Review: SURPRISINGLY STURDY! Summary: 5 Stars
We have been using retractable clotheslines for years, but needed to add another line. I ordered this on Amazon because I needed to qualify for free shipping, so I wasn't expecting much, even though the reviews were mostly positive. When I got it, I was surprised how heavy and sturdy it feels. Even my brother, who was grumbling about installing another line when we already had three, was so impressed, he wanted me to order another one. The only negative is the plastic loop at the end, which is too small, but my brother worked it out, so it's not big a deal.
Customer Review: love being able to line dry my clothes Summary: 5 Stars
This works great. I bought two so I could have two lines and I used them for the first time today and have enjoyed it. I put these up without the help of a man so that is to say this product is very easy to put up. I love the fact that these retract because I attached these to my privacy fence and now if we have any one over and need to hide the line it is very easy. I definitely recommend for anyone with limited space that wants to line dry clothes. This also is easy to take off and move to the inside if necessary.
Customer Review: I does it job and keep HOA's happy. Summary: 4 Stars
It seems to work well. I can hang about 2 medium size loads of laundry on it and since it is 1 line they get dry rather quickly in the Oklahoma heat. I though why pay for the energy of a dryer when it is 102 outside. Heavy wet towels do make the plastic line droop but a little tightening before the next load and it is good to go. I love that it hides away when you're done since I live in a HOA temporary ones are the only kind we can have in our yards. It does it job.
Customer Review: Works great Summary: 5 Stars
It does exactly what you expect. The size of the housing is smaller than expected, so that is nice, and 40 feet is plenty. We've had damp towels on the entire line and while they come close to the ground, we haven't pulled the anchor out of the fence or damaged the line. We checked around and Amazon is charging what a 20 foot line costs locally, so this is a much better deal. Great for when you want to save money, but without an ugly line up all the time.
Customer Review: There's a trick to tensioning the clothesline. Summary: 5 Stars
A few reviewers have commented that you need to pull the clothesline out all the way or it sags. If you look on the bottom of the unit, there's a little knob that resembles the cleats to which you tie up boats on docks. Just wrap it around 3/4 of a turn and the clothesline will stay plenty tight. I have a feeling this also reduces the wear and tear on the spring inside the unit and that it might last longer as a result.
