Tools and Hardware Reviews of SecureLine RC20 20-Foot Retractable Clothesline

Customer Review: Bargain dryer!!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're into saving money and enjoy fiddling with your clothes BUY this!! So far, I've had it for around 4 months and I must say this is one of my favorite gadgets.. It takes up little to no space and it holds a TON of clothes!! (Just don't expect to put a down king size comforter on it!). You can get various pairs of jeans, numerous HEAVY duty towels, and at least 6 dress shirts on hangers. You can barely fit that in a normal size dryer. I've actually gotten rid of my dryer. I don't know why anybody thinks that the sight of clothes blowing in the wind is UNSIGHTLY or lack of a better term downright UGLY and a sign of poverty. Sometimes I actually like peeking out my window to catch a pair of my beautiful jeans blowing in the wind..

I must say - there is one trick to this - you need to be sure and install it where the wind is the strongest. It's usually the West but maybe that can vary I don't know. Just put it up where there's open space. It retracts back into the little gadget thing. I debated on those umbrella type thingy majig type clotheslines. I figured I saved at least $50 on that alone. Since they do usually cost 50-70 dollars and that's for the cheapy models. I also have more open space in my yard with this type of setup. There's really nothing I don't like about it. Fabulous retractable clothesline at a bargain price!!

Customer Review: This is a horrible product that broke after 2 weeks of light use
Summary: 1 Stars

I read the reviews for this product and was excited to be able to get something that seemed useful for a decent price. Well.. sometimes you really do get what you pay for. This product broke in less than 2 weeks. The cord lost all tension and just sagged to the ground. I had used it two or three times to dry my children's swim suits and towels (2 suits and 2 towels) and one afternoon found all the items laying on the ground. Both my husband and I are fairly handy, so we tried to take apart the item to fix it. It was unfixable. Now I have a $15 (cost of product + shipping) metal bracket attached to my home with a saggy cord that I have to manually tightem up around a fence post. I'm sure that those who have the product and it has not broken yet are happy, because the product itself, while it worked, was good. But, for those of you who don't want to gamble and wind up like me - with a broken product after 2 weeks, I suggest trying something else.

Customer Review: Very nice
Summary: 4 Stars

This is my first purchase and step in drying with a clothesline.

I have this setup in my bedroom as it is one of the larger rooms in the house and it's out of the way. Initially, I was skeptical but having used it for a few weeks now I'm glad I went with this line.

The fact that it retracts and folds out of the way is a huge plus for me. The line doesn't mark the clothing and the length (at least the 13+ feet I can use) is enough to dry a medium to large load of laundry.

My only concern is that while hanging up a load of pants I felt the line sag. I did have the line wrapped around the tabs on the bottom. I'm not sure if the line slipped a bit or if it actually stretched under the heavy load. Hopefully the line won't break but only time will tell.

Would definitely recommend this line to someone who wants to try drying with a clothes line.

Customer Review: Great for Indoor Use
Summary: 5 Stars

We've had a terrible winter and line drying outdoors just hasn't been possible most of the time. So I ordered this to tide me over, but now I'm thinking that even once it warms up, I'll keep on using it - especially for small loads.

It was a good bit bigger than I thought it would be - about 6 inches across. I didn't want to put it anywhere it'd be seen all the time. But finally I had a brainwave and I mounted on the back wall of the master bedroom closet with the hook on the opposite wall. I don't even notice the hook and the line unit is completely out of the way, but still very accessible when I need it!

If I want things to dry extra fast, I just turn on the ceiling fan.

Customer Review: awesome value, very functional
Summary: 5 Stars

We love our new clotheslines...they are sturdy and very functional...
we have hung our king size quilt on one line and it held great with no issues...
it is very easy to tighten the line around the provided post underneath and we have had no issues with the taughtness of the line. We have three 4x4 posts, each 8' apart on our back porch...we installed a little hook on the center post so the line could rest on that in the center to help with the weight distribution and alleviate any sagging that may have wanted to take place...if you can support it in the center it will help.
We highly recommend these lines for anyone interested in this type of product...
