Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan FM-15A Level 3 Faucet FilterCustomer Review: Warning to Kohler fixture owners! Summary: 4 Stars
I wish I knew from experience how wonderful and effective this filter is. Unfortunately, I own a Kohler kitchen faucet and calls to both the technical departments of Culligan and Kohler confirmed that there is no way to attach the filter to my faucet! Apparently, the aesthetic sensibilities of the good people at Kohler are grievously offended by the addition of any attachment to their carefully crafted product. They suggested I invest in an under-the-cabinet water filter instead (typically costing at least a couple hundred bucks without scientifically confirmed superiority.) Well, I had an Everpure system installed when I remodeled the kitchen and it worked well for 6 or 7 years, (not taking into account the expensive replacement cartridges which are a pain to install every 6-12 months, depending on usage.) Recently, I discovered a leak that could not be fixed which ruined my cabinets. I'm done with Everpure and after consulting Consumer Reports, thought I had found the perfect solution in this Culligan filter. My sister will end up using it instead.
Customer Review: wasted money based on these reviews Summary: 1 Stars
I've read reviews on amazon for all filters and decided on these. I live in New York and by the time the water comes out our faucets its almost like sewage. I've tried three myself, one was broken and two of the filters out of five were not functioning. My girlfriend got one and it wasn't much better. We have both moved around and no matter what water pressure we had the amount of water coming out of these filters has been pathetic. It was mostly just dripping, sort of like not closing the faucet all the way. I've bought additional three filters, and one had great pressure but I don't think it filtered as I could still taste the chlorine. For some reason these get clogged up after two years and even turned off the water pressure drops dramatically. In the end they don't filter or allow water to flow through. I wondered about suing this company, but they're too pathetic for me to do that as poland spring already ruined their business and home delivery services. Hopefully you will stay away, but if not feel free to learn from your own mistakes.
Customer Review: not as tasty as pur, but good enough Summary: 4 Stars
It was easy to set up. The unit itself is inexpensive compared to some others. Small enough that it is not in your way around the sink. The taste of filtered water is comparable to brita but not as tasty as pur. On certain days, I can still taste the chlorine but the next day I don't. I don't know if the amount of the chlorine in the tap water could fluctuate or not, but my other theory is that the reason for this taste difference is the water flow rate. After thinking about this issue, I decided to decrease the water flow that goes through the filter per minute (still fast enough to fill a pitcher in 2-3 minutes) allowing more time for the water to interact with the filter. I did not taste the chlorine after that adjustment. I'll update if that was a false assumption.
Overall, I am happy with this purchase since it improves the tap water and I don't have to buy water from outside. But I'll still be trying other brands/systems to find the most satisfactory one. Now, the taste is the only thing left that I want to improve.
Customer Review: A faucet filter that works very well Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is perfect. First faucet filter that I buy and I'm glad I trusted the reviews in Amazon, rather than buying other more popular brands.
The filter is easy to mount and makes clean and tasty water.
Now I have the convenience of not having to carry gallons of water from the shop and I also save money - it will make 200 gallons with one filter, so your cost is less than $0.10 for a gallon of clean, fresh water.
The manual says to replace it every 200 gallons or 2 months, but I calculated I use about 30 gallons a month and I'm using the filter for 4 months already without any decrease of water quality or speed.
The only cons that I could think of is that the water flow is a bit slow as other reviews also noted, but that's not a issue for me at all. I would like if it removed fluorides too, but I understand that this is a feature of the more advanced and expensive reverse osmosis systems.
The verdict - if you want convenient, cheap, clean and fresh water, look no further - buy this filter!
Customer Review: Clean tasting water - wife approved too! Summary: 4 Stars
After losing our jobs my wife and I were looking at cutting expenses here and there. 78 - 99 cents a gallon does add up week after week....so I decided to get this little gadget. My wife wasn't happy since she didn't like the PUR/Brita cheap plastic ones we had in the past and she wanted to stick with bottled water and pay the price. I laughed and told her OOOOOPS - I already ordered the Culligan filter at Amazon. In a nutshell, the Culligan was delivered to us and she saw that it wasn't built cheap like the other products and didn't take up as much space. I did need to make a run to Home Depot to get a adapter for our strange sized new faucet (which didn't work for the other water filters either) - but that was super easy as was the installation of the Culligan unit. Water taste great and the wife is happy with the purchase plus and $$$$ savings at the grocery store. The good reviews on Amazon plus Consumer Reports excellent ratings for Culligan made it comfortable purchasing this item. Thank you Amazon shoppers!
