Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan FM-15A Level 3 Faucet FilterCustomer Review: Works Great! Tastes Great! Summary: 5 Stars
I waited 2 months before writing this review, and at the end of the 2 months this filter was still doing its job-- with no reduction in water flow. There was a noticeable reduction in chlorine odor and taste when comparing it to the unfiltered tap water. My wife drinks a lot of water so I would venture to guess we used more than 200 gallons in those 2 months.
The filter holder is solid and does not leak if you have it installed correctly. The automatic shut off is a nice feature. Culligan could improve the aesthetics by making the filter holder stainless steel. However, even being bright white, it is small enough that it doesn't look awkward with a kitchen of black or stainless appliances.
Combined with a filter subscription from Amazon it is easy to have great tasting water all the time without having to worry about when to buy and replace cartridges. For the price this is a great faucet mount setup that is more convenient than a water pitcher.
Customer Review: Does a good job of improving the taste. Summary: 5 Stars
I should have bought this filter 3 years ago when I moved to a town with bad tasting water.
I just installed it today and I am totally pleased with the taste of the filtered water.
It installs in seconds with no problem but the water flow is too slow for everyday water use.
I prepared for this and got a few gallon water jugs to fill and save. After saving the filtered water, I'll be good to go for a few days for all my drinking water needs so after filtering I removed the filter and put on my regular aerator.
I also also bought replacement filters so I check on ease of replacement.
I could not unscrew the filter by hand but using a pliers made it possible. Also when I screwed in the replacement, I could do it by hand but removing it required pliers even though I didn't over tighten it.It was just to hard to get a good grip on it by hand to be removed.
All in all, I'm pleased with the product. It does what it's suppose to do.
Customer Review: Just Okay Summary: 3 Stars
I was a Pur filter customer. That's all I bought and suggested that other folks seeking to invest in a faucet filter buy. However, after going through about three or four Pur filter mounts, I decided it was time to try something new. So, I started doing some research on the internet about which faucet filter aside from Pur or Brita, was best. I came here to Amazon.com and saw that this particular filter by Culligan got some good reviews. Thus, I purchased and received the Culligan faucet filter about a month and a half ago. While I really do like the design of the filter mount and feel it's durable, I don't care for the taste of the water. It does seem to filter out a lot of the "stuff" in tap water, and the filtering process definitely makes the water look clear, but again, the taste is not winning me over at all. So, after the filter runs out, I'll be going back to Pur. I know the Pur design is not really that durable, but the water is the best I've ever tasted.
Customer Review: Not quite as pleased as I thought I would be, but it's OK Summary: 3 Stars
My husband wanted to get away from filter pitchers, so we bought the Culligan faucet-mount filter. I purchased it, based on reviews that said the metal connector was sturdier than the plastic connectors used for Brita and Pur. We use that same faucet for a garden hose, so I knew the connector would be put to the test. So far, the connector has done well. However, we do have the same problem mentioned by a couple of other reviewers: the water flow is very slow. Perhaps it is because we live on the top floor of an 11-story building, but it annoys my husband. I've learned to set my container under the filter and let it fill while I do other things, so I can work with it. It is significantly slower than just the plain faucet, though. We also thought the water tasted a little funny and had a slightly funny mouth-feel the first day or so, but I think we've gotten used to that. My main issue with city water is the amount of chlorine and this filter does remove that for me.
Customer Review: Great filter! Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this filter 3 months ago and really like it. It was really easy to install, I mean really easy. As easy as screw off your old faucet cover and screw on the filter. No tools needed. The water tastes great. The toggle switch to go from regular and filtered water is a nice feature too although it stops working automatically after the first filter needs to be replaced. You just have to do it manually. Good thing is that unlike a Brita filter, you can tell when to replace the filter in case you forget when you installed it. When it needs to be replaced, the water starts coming out slower, until it's only a drip.
I just installed the new filter and it seems to be working fine. Great product for a great price.
****UPDATE!! 2/7/11. Although the filter's been great, ours cracked and needs to be replaced after having it for under a year. We have to order another one but I think it's worth it. Beats filling up Britas.
