I've had a brita filter for over two years and fortunately, about two months ago, I gave in and threw it out. The brita is a piece of junk: it sprays from every single place imaginable. Basically, when you want to get a glass of water, you get an additional free shower with it. Another issue is the one of the little plastic nob you have to turn to filter your water: after less than a year of usage it became impossible to turn so I was stuck with filtered water even when I didn't need it. I went out and bought the Culligan FM-15A. I am impressed by the quality difference: the Culligan is made with metal (not plastic) so the water doesn't spray everywhere (no small spills either). The nob is also made of metal and it goes back to its original position every time you close the tap. If I only knew how good this product is, I wouldn't have waited two years to replace my sucko brita filter. Finally, I don't hate using my sink anymore. After four days: I bought two, for two faucets. Both work as advertised. Water tastes good with or without the filter. Much easier to use than the filtered pitcher I used to use. Only had them four days, so can't comment on long term performance.
After one week: One one unit, the valve to change between regular and filtered water is supposed to snap back to the regular position automatically - ours stopped doing this after a week, so now we manually set to either position.
After four months (10/25/10): The one we use most often stopped working. An internal rubber gasket came apart and water now flows through both exit ports so have to order another filter body. I would think an item such as this ought to good for at least a year (including regular changes of filter), but four months is not good. Btw, we bought 2 initially and one of them that gets less use is till working fine after four months.

After looking around at several different types and brands (both in store and online), we finally decided to try Culligan. I'm only sorry we didn't try it sooner. INCREDIBLY easy install right out of the box. IMMEDIATE difference in water quality. Our local water here never tasted great, but was tolerable. Over the last couple months a heavy chlorine smell and taste started to become more and more apparent. As soon as we installed the Culligan filter you could no longer smell or taste the chlorine.
The water from the Culligan filter tastes crisp, fresh, and just like you remember great water tasting when you were a kid. We also use the filtered water in our humidifier, and its kept it in like new condition (no annoying white dust). Amazon also makes it really easy to get automatic filter replacements sent as needed (every 200 gallons or so) on a regular schedule of your choosing.

I have not blindly chosen just any faucet filter since I've carefully read through many reviews and many more different types of products. Sure Culligan Faucet Filter got many good reviews, but it fell short of all expectations in my case. The filter worked decently the first week (though the water was never really clean); the little knob on the side soon got stuck, preventing the water from switching back to normal mode in just a few days. On top of that, the water pressure was never very fast to begin with, but after just a week, the water seems to be even slower than normal, and is pretty much "leaking" out from the faucet rather than pouring out. I tried everything I could with twisting/moving the filter inside around, but no help. So much for the filter lasting about 2 months.
This product is a disappointment! I suggest that you do more research before you decide on this product.

I installed my filter about a month ago. I happened to have an externally stripped faucet. This made for a VERY easy installation. Following the directions, I ran fresh cold water through the filter for about 10 minutes. When I began flushing my new filter I was so eager that I didn't even check the temperature of the water. I admonish those interested to be sure that the water is not warmer than room temperature when flushing the filter before first time use. I think this is especially important for first time filter buyers (like me), who usually only use faucet water to clean things (like me) and therefore usually only use very warm to hot water. As for the taste, YES it is crisp clean purified H2O. The automatic valve is a plus - no need to turn off the filter; it shuts off when the water shuts off. 1 month in and no signs of leakage. My overall experience has been great thus far.
