Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan FM-15A Level 3 Faucet FilterCustomer Review: Read everyone else's review first Summary: 1 Stars
I didn't think the faucet adapter would be an issue for me. Boy, was I wrong. Please read everyone's review first! Lots of people have problems with the supplied adapters not working. In fact, the adapters are male to male, which makes them pretty worthless. Most faucet aireators have a female end, not male. I contacted customer support and they even said if I couldn't find the correct adapter to return the product to where I purchased it.
I went to Home Depot and they couldn't help me. They said they had nothing. After almost an hour on my own opening other faucet filters they had and checking the size, I finally figured out that the reason why the adapters don't work is because they have both male ends and not the needed male-to-female adapter. I finally found the one I needed 3/4" x 55/64". I wanted to put this info out so that future buyers are well informed about the adapter issue (3/4" is standard) before deciding to make this purchase. Because of the hassle, this gets one star. I haven't used it yet, so wish me luck. At least, this saves me with the hassle of returning it to Amazon.com. Thank God.
Good luck
Customer Review: Happy water Summary: 4 Stars
I was going through a PUR unit every three months. It was cracking around the faucet connection everytime. I had it, so I went online and found the Culligan one. I bought it and haven't looked back. I live in a 105 year old house, with original plumbing. So I have lots of sediment in my water. The PUR filters lasted anywhere from 2-3 months. My first Culligan lasted 2 months, and the one in their now looks like it needs to be replaced after one month. I just bought 3 filters for [...] shipped.
The only downside of the Culligan unit is, the filterd water comes out slower then the PUR, and when the filter starts getting clogged. It takes forever to fill pots up.
*******(One year update)*******
This filter is still working like a champ. The spring pin stoped working in the auto mode, but that doesn't bother me. I would have been through about 4 Pur units already. The filters last 30 days for me. I live in a 106 year old house. I have a lot of sediment in my pipes. I buy the filters at my local Walgreens for $11.49 a piece. They are made for Walgreens by Culligan.
Customer Review: This Could Be A Great Water Filter-But Summary: 3 Stars
I have have been drinking water purified by the Culligan faucet filter for about 4 months now, and am happy to report that the filter does a very good job of removing unpleasant taste and impurities from the water.
This filter would get 5 stars, but there have been some quality issues, which lowered my rating to just 3 stars.
The element must be replaced every 2 months, which I attempted. The replacement element(filter) is supposed to
simply unsrew by turning it counter-clockwise. The filter element would not turn at all,in any direction,no matter how hard I tried. I ended up ordering a new unit to entirely replace the old one. When I hooked up the new unit,it was defective. The water from the tap simply ran through the filter-without any filtration taking place at all.
A new filter element was inserted into the defective unit, and the filtered water was excellent once again.
The pros: Great tasting water(no taste),and also usable in lieu of distilled water, another money saver.
The cons: uneven quality of the product.
Customer Review: So far so good Summary: 3 Stars
The filter would get a four star review. Water from it tastes much better than direct from our well, and it's operation is easy. I knock off a star because the auto shut off feature, where when the water pressure stops, it should click into off position, has started sticking after only a few weeks of limited use.
I'd use it more, but the only faucet in the house it would fit is the basement bathroom. We don't have funky faucets, our kitchen was just redone, and the laundry sink is older but standard issue. None of the attachments provided would make this filter fit any of our sinks. I actually brought in the filter and parts to ACE hardware to find the proper adapter, and when I got home it still wouldn't fit the sink I had in mind. Which is probably my fault, sure, but it is hard to believe what a hassle it is to attach this filter.
I think this was my best available option for this type of device, although I haven't actually tried the competitors, I just comparison shopped. Still, the button sticks and it was not as easily set up as advertised. 3*
Customer Review: water ok, but some fundamental issues with filter Summary: 2 Stars
so this is the first faucet filter i bought. before i relied on those brita filters, but since i have a small kitchen now, i opted for this after reading great reviews about the product. honestly, i can't really taste a difference in the water, but trust the sources that harmful particles are being removed from my tap.
here is my biggest gripe. the attachment extends your faucet nozzle a bit. so if you are like me and have a low profile kitchen faucet, it really gets in the way when doing dishes (not to mention that we have to constantly swing the filter around when doing dishes so it doesn't get in the way as well). The pull trigger on the adapter is now sticking after 6 months of use.
next steps: i'm redoing my kitchen sink, installing a tall arching kitchen faucet, installing one of those under-sink water filtration systems and doing away with this thing.
for those of you with deep sinks and tall faucets, this product will work fine.
but in my experience, it is not worth losing the sink space.
