Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan HSH-C135 Level 2 Hand-Held Filtered Chrome ShowerheadCustomer Review: Good showerhead, poor mounting bracket Summary: 3 Stars
Noticed an immediate improvement in the quaity of the water when I installed this showerhead in two bathrooms. While the showerhead is a little heavy, it does a good job of filtering out the chlorine and other chemicals in the water. On the down side, I have never seen a cheaper mounting bracket for a plumbing fixture. The piece that connects between the pipe and the showerhead hose and holds the showerhead in a bracket is brittle, cheap plastic that is poorly made and looks it. One of the two I ordered split open while I was hand tightening it to the pipe. The second one split a couple of weeks after installation. If you order this showerhead filter, attach the hose to your existing bracket and throw away the one that comes in the package.
Customer Review: Good Summary: 4 Stars
I've only had this showerhead for about a month and out of that month I've been away for 2 weeks. The times I've used it I have not seen a really big difference. I bought it because I hate it when I get out of the shower and my skin feels so itchy from all the chemicals in the water. After I installed this showerhead I did notice a little less itchiness, maybe it was a placebo effect, who knows. The showerhead was very easy to install (less than 5 minutes) and the price at amazon was the best. The filters are also very inexpensive and are supposed to last for about 6 months depending on the usage. I don't know if there is an accurate way to test how good it filters the water but for now I think it's better than nothing.
Customer Review: Could be made better Summary: 2 Stars
This would be a great product if the part that connects to the shower pipe was made of metal instead of plastic. According to the instructions, you are to use a wrench to put the part on even though you are screwing plastic on to metal. I just used my hands to put the part on and it cracked (even though I used plumbers tape as instructed). I went to home depot to see if I could find a metal replacement for it, but they don't sell them. I did however find a plastic replacement which I purchased for $5. I like the product itself as my skin and hair feels better and soap lathers better, however they could have made the part that screws on to the metal shower pipe METAL instead of plastic. Poor design.
Customer Review: THIS IS GREAT!! Summary: 5 Stars
We heard from friends that a filtered shower head works wonders for dry skin, etc. So we thought we would give this a try, and I must say this thing really works well! We,as well as our visiting sister-in-law, have tried this for the past few days (not at the same time)and all agree that our skin is not as dry as before installing the new shower head. Definately something is being removed from our water...chlorine...etc. Big thumbs up for these types of devices, am going to buy more for the kids showers, etc. Just be careful on tightening the plastic bushing onto your metal shower arm that extends out from the wall...tightening easy and gently here...should have used metal for this piece!
Customer Review: Connection cracked and leaks Summary: 3 Stars
Within a few weeks, the plastic connection that attaches to the faucet cracked and began leaking. The seller advised me that the manufacturer wants to be contacted for any problems and will probably replace the device. Contacted Culligan and a new part was sent to me in a few days. So far it's working fine but will have to see what happens over time. Culligan seems to have excellent customer service and technical support, but I was disappointed on the quality of the connecter. Have had various types of hand held showers over the years and this is that first one that had a problem like this. From the reviews, it seems that several other people had same problem.
