Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan RC-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level-4 Replacement Cartridge

Customer Review: Easy, just like it says on the label.
Summary: 5 Stars

After I made the wife move in from the suburbs, she complained that our tap water tasted and smelled like river water. Honestly, I have no idea what she's talking about. In any case, this was critical enough for her that a filtration system worked out as a suitable birthday gift.

These things work amazingly well. Since installing the filter system (ie the T in the water line, the tubing, the "dock" for the filter cartridges, and the little faucet) it's a snap to throw in a new cartridge every six months. She loves it, I love that she doesn't complain about the water. It's a match made in Minneapolis.

Helpful hint: If you're deciding to get the filter system I linked above, throw away the faucet that comes with it and get a better one. That thing is ugly with a capital U. We use this faucet instead, which both my wife and I prefer.

Customer Review: Not bad
Summary: 3 Stars

I live in LA and the water tastes nasty. This filter makes it drinkable, though it's no Sparkletts.

Pros: It is very easy to change the filter and the faucet looks nice and works pretty well. I haven't had any trouble with leakage. I also installed it myself fairly easily. The filters are not as expensive as some.

Cons: Like I said, the water tasted much better, but still a tiny bit "off" in LA. Also, it tastes worse after a month or two (before the light indicates the filter needs to be changed). The biggest problem is that the water comes out slower than I'd like. It takes several seconds to fill up a glass. Also, no temperature control on the water.

I'm being very picky--this is basically a good product and much nicer/better than dealing a pitcher. I'm keeping it, but if I had to do it over again, I might spring for reverse osmosis.

Customer Review: Quality product
Summary: 5 Stars

I really like these filters. Beautiful clean water and very easy to change. I originally bought the kit and I must say the faucet was very poor. After replacing it twice in a year and a half, I finally purchased a third party all metal faucet from Amazon. The reviewers of the kit have reported coming home to flooded kitchens. I was lucky. The first time I came home to water trickling around the top and running down the drain. The second time it broke in front of me - pop - and it was leaking above and below. I wasn't even using it at the time. I shut the source off quickly and just had a small mess under sink. The problem is the valve is made of plastic and it splits. I don't recommend the faucet, but Culligan got the filter right. That's what they do.

Customer Review: Culligan filter change
Summary: 4 Stars

The filter is very easy to change. The water tastes very good from this filter. It is the most reasonable filter I have found for an under the sink system. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because of the battery that they have you install to tell you when to change the filter. This battery does not tell you that the filter is dirty and needs replacing. It comes on at some arbitrary time. Mine came on at 5 Months. I was curious so I removed the battery and reinstalled it. It reset and did not come on again. I assume if I left the filter in for 10 Months, it would have come on again.

Customer Review: not enough water volume
Summary: 4 Stars

I live in Shanghai and I needed better drinking water so I decided to try this product out. It works great, no more taste after I installed it, however, I agree with some of the other comments where it says that they had to replace it before the 500 gallon mark. I am also trying to look for a larger water volume product such as a 1000 gallon filtering capacity becuase throwing away the cartridges is such a drain on the environment (they are rather huge) so I am now looking at the preferred 250. Anyone used that before?
