Tools and Hardware Reviews of Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level-4 Under-Sink Drinking Water System

Customer Review: Great filter, but...
Summary: 4 Stars

I owned this filter for about 2 months now and I really like it. Water tastes great. It's probably the best filter for value vs. price. Filter cartridge is very easy to install, and very easy to replace. I'm probably going to change faucet in the future, the original one works well so far.

It's an off topic but I hope it helps some people. Be careful when you filling something with water. Water runs under low pressure, so it runs really slow. I've already forgot couple of times that I was filling something, so my kitchen got flooded with water.

It was relatively easy to install the filter. Forget about included screws to hang it inside your cabinet/vanity. My drill destroyed the screw's head at the third turn. Find two decent <=1.5 inch screws for handing. Be very very careful with the plastic splitter. Extra turn might kill the thread. That's the only reason I'm giving this product 4 stars, only because of some unreliable parts.

Customer Review: Water tastes great - fitting is a let down
Summary: 3 Stars

Dont get me wrong - this is a nice neat system that fits easily under the sink and the water tastes great (I did a blind taste test with the family and they all agreed it was better that the chloride tasting water from the tap. I installed it myself but the plastic connector fitting they provide is 1/2" only - so, unless you are a core DIY/plumbing person, you will not able to install this if you have 3/8" tap connectors (as in many US homes). I had to spend a lot of time finding the right converter fittings to enable me to hook it up. It's crazy that Culligan, for the cost of an extra plastic fitting, dont include a 3/8" connector also.
Agree that the faucet that comes with it is a bit plasticy but dont think it can be called a "heap of junk". I would have given this a 4 star rating if it wasnt for the hassle with installation.

Customer Review: Water doesn't taste great...
Summary: 3 Stars

I ordered this filter to replace a reverse osmosis water filter. The reverse osmosis filter produced delicious water but was very expensive to operate and did not produce as much water as we needed. I bought this particular filter after doing a lot of research on the web as to effectiveness of removing chemicals and particulates from tap water. I am assuming that the studies I read accurately reflect the efficacy of this filter, but the water it produces just doesn't taste great. To produce good tasting water we are running the water from the Culligan thru a Brita. On the positive side, we have no issues with the faucet that we received as some reviewers have. It's not the BEST I've ever seen, so maybe if you had kids that were harder on the faucet, it would break. But so far, it has functioned perfectly well for my husband and me.

Customer Review: culligan waterfilter us-ez-4I purchased this
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this unit 2-15 installed it 2-25. Before purchase I read online reviews most seemed to complain about plastic faucet fixture. I found this to be completely acceptable. Installation was very easy. Filter works good. Very satisfied. UPATE to 2-25-09 review: Looks like all the complaints about the cheap plastic connector stem are right on. Six months after installation the white plastic stem broke. Luckily I was standing at the sink when water started dripping on my foot. After so many complaints about the same part it seems Amazon would discontinue this product until this stem problem could be corrected. Culligan should recall or send replacement parts to all purchasers. I did give the system 5 stars but after the flood it probably deserves 1 star. Seriously give thought to all reviews about broken steams and flooding.

Customer Review: Filtered water
Summary: 4 Stars

I just recently bought this product, so I can not give it any long term evaluation. The installation was not difficult. All parts necessary were included with the filter assembly. Instructions were pretty easy to follow.I don't feel you need to run the water for 10 minutes after the filter installation. I think that is excessive. I feel running it till the water runs clear is enough. The water tastes good. The one thing that really doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere, is the battery in the faucet. Nothing tells me how it works or what kind of indication I get when the filter needs replacing. I guess I will just have to wait to find out what it will do. Overall, I think it is a good value for the money. I wish the faucet that it came with wasn't plastic. I will see about updating this review in about 6 Months.
