Customer Review: It Does Work!
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been using these for a few years now, they noticeably affect the hardness of the water, and you can, especially for the first few weeks, really feel the difference..at least we can.

So the filter does work, no doubt about it, and all you have to do is shake it out after a few weeks in your sink, to see all of the gunk and brownish-colored impurities it traps. That stuff would otherwise be in your hair and skin - which is just gross (no one should shower or drink unfiltered tap water in this day and age).

It removes the chlorine smell and will have a positive effect on your hair and skin over time (if not immediately).

A water source filtration system is ideal of course, but if you rent or are unable to buy one, this is the next best thing.

My one complaint is that they don't last all that long, it's hard to tell just how long they do work at an optimal level, so I just go by the "feel" of the water (maybe 3 months at best).

It is advised to turn it over after a month or two, if not sooner, shake it out and knock it against your sink for a while, to loosen up the particles inside and get some of the dirt out, then run your shower for a minute or two before actually taking a shower (you'll see a lot of brown water come out again initially, before it turns clear again).

I would also prefer recyclable materials be used (thus the 4 star rating).

Customer Review: Culligan Chlorine Filtering Shower Head
Summary: 5 Stars

Excellent product! If you're in the market for one of these, buy this one!

I have had mine now for 2 months & must say it is the best we have ever had! I read all the reviews before buying & when it arrived, there was no problem adjusting it, no problem with it leaking, no problem with a "small spray radius."

It is simply the best thing since sliced bread! Once again, I can use shower steam to help clear my lungs when I am congested, like when I was a kid. I'm 50 now & have chronic chemical respiratory problems, along with heavy metals toxicity from being so near the Gulf... Adding the chlorine just made me vomit. I became so sensitive to the chlorine fumes & effect on my skin that it prompted me to buy this product.

I have long hair past my shoulders & have not had to use conditioner on it since the very first shower without the chlorine! Both my husband & I have remarked over how our skin no longer tightens when we dry off after a shower. My feet stay soft & I don't need as much lotion.

Fabulous product! Excellent Value! I have bought the showerhead & 2 spare refills, as we plan to take this with us when we leave...

Cheers,

CV

Customer Review: works great, runs out quick though
Summary: 4 Stars

so I've had this for almost six months now and it definitely filters out the chlorine in the water. i live in san diego so we have really hard water and high levels of chlorine in our water. with this installed, it makes a huge difference. i can't smell or taste the chlorine, i even poured a glass of water from shower head, chilled it and it tasted like my Pur filtered tap water! The only issue is that after a month i started to lose water pressure as the filter became clogged. i had to take it out and turn flip it and that works for another month or so. now i'm flipping it around once a week now, but it only takes 30 seconds to do. this can be attributed to the hardness of my water clogging it up quickly, so i take that into account. other than than, it works great and i can take a hot steamy shower without inhaling chlorine. for the price, it's worth it, i don't expect much more, if i had the money, i'd try to find one that would last longer. for the money and the quality of the water it puts out, it gets a five star rating, just annoying how fast it clogs, so i had to drop it a star...

Customer Review: Not 100%, but better than most for filtering out the chlorine
Summary: 4 Stars

I live in Miami FL in an apartment. Between the heavily chlorinated water supply and probably old pipes, my skin and hair had been SO dry. I usually have a thick head of hair, but I noticed that I was losing more and more strands after I shampooed in the shower. I tried several shower filters, but this one seems to be the best. As soon as I installed the filter, my hair was back to normal and my skin wasn't so dry. It was like a miracle. But each replacement filter doesn't last anywhere near the "six months" that is says on the package. I'd say it was more like 6 weeks, but again that could be our water supply. My hair and skin are great for the six weeks with a fresh filter. Add in the great price on this website (the same filter sells for almost $30 at my local Ace Hardware store!) and buying the filters here is a no-brainer. I highly recommend this unit.

Customer Review: Good, but spending the money on a whole-house softener is probably better...
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought the Culligan faucet kit a few weeks ago. Our house has always had REALLY hard water, and in lieu of buying a softener to hook up in the garage, I decided to check this out first. I'll give it that the filtration is having an effect - my arms and face aren't as dry as they used to be, and and some of the problems I had (like a rash on the back of my neck) have faded a bit. There is a strong carbon smell to the water (similar to what you'd smell while replacing an aquarium filter), but it's tolerable.

Somehow, I was hoping for more. I still have to put on a lot of lotion (hands and arms) and aloe vera gel (on my face and head) after showering, and my legs and feet are still dry. I'm probably going to go ahead and get a whole house softener, as it will affect all the taps, and salt is cheaper to buy than these replacement filters.
