I've always kept the household knives pretty sharp, and it's always been a chore accomplishing that. Two or three times a year I'd drag out the old Carbarundum stone that's been in the family for decades and spend hours sharpening knives. This DMT whetstone puts this chore in a new dimension. Now each knife takes about three minutes and they all go back in the drawer with edges Jeffrey Dahmer would have envied. These things do not come cheap, but if you place much of a premium on your time and you want sharp cutlery, your money will be well spent.

Description of DMT W6E 6-Inch Diamond Whetstone Sharpener, Extra-Fine with Hardwood Box

High technology combines the hardness of diamonds with the toughness of plastic to give you excellent sharpening results. Fine monocrystalline diamond particles are permanently fixed to a flat plastic base in a unique screen pattern. Water is used as the lubricating wash for sharpening all tool steels, even carbide edges. They work for home and shop use with minimum cleanup and care.
