Tools and Hardware Reviews of DSI Outlet Wireless Remote Wall Outlets, 3 Outlets with 1 RemoteCustomer Review: Very convenient but only till it last Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this remote for two reasons, price and buttons on the base. I did read all the reviews that complain about it not working after sometime and it not responding to remote input but I still bought it thinking I will be lucky and will get a good product. Well I was wrong. It worked well for about 2 months but after that one of the input stopped responding to remote. Other two respond randomly, I have to press the button 2-3 times before it operates. I dont know what kind of warranty it has but I am going to try and get a replacement or repair. Dont get me wrong, it is very convenient but the quality is very poor. Only good thing is that the switch on the base still operates so I can manually turn it on/off without having to unplug.
I am not sure if there are any better alternatives but beware of the quality of this product. I think you get what you pay for, for $29 I think it good disposable product just dont expect it to last long.
Customer Review: Works, but range can be finicky Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this for lights in a room. all you do is plug each receiver into an outlet and the electronic device into the receivers outlet. Put the battery in the remote. Then you turn the outlet on.
Then you can use it. Press the according button and the light turns out (or electrical device). however, 10 feet is the best range. Any farther than that and it can be finicky, sometimes is finicky at that range. What I mean is that when you press the button the light won't always turn on and you have to get closer or wave the remote around (while holding down the button). Any more than 10 feet and you usually need line of sight to receiver. Other than that it works great.
I don't have to walk over the the light and bend down to turn it on.
I velcro'd the remote to the wall so I can use it like a normal light switch. And since it is velcro I can pull it off if it won't turn on the light.
Customer Review: Very handy devices! Summary: 4 Stars
I have a couple of fluorescent light fixtures in my garage. Only one of them is wired to a light switch, which is across the garage from the door. Two of these wireless receivers are now controlling the two fixtures and I've mounted the remote to the wall with some Velcro. Now I have a light switch next to the door and didn't have to wire anything up!
Pros: Easy to install and use, 3 prong grounded outlet allows almost any device to be used, comes with a transmitter battery, range seems to be good and doesn't require line of sight
Cons: Transmitter battery is an odd size (A23), one of the receivers rattles - but it works...I just wonder for how long, transmitter is an odd shape - would be nice if it had a regular switch, sometimes need to hold the button down or press it twice in order to turn the receiver on or off, the receivers are quite large
Customer Review: great idea- poor quality product Summary: 2 Stars
i purchased 5 sets of these remote outlets 13 months ago for our holiday lights. right out of the box 2 remotes had buttons that did not work. contacted the vendor and was told i would have to pay the return shipping for replacements. 3 weeks later 2 more had buttons that died. the range is not even close to 60' advertised and often will not work from room to room thru walls. when plugged into the top outlet, the receiving unit is just large enought not allowing most male plugs to be inserted into the bottom outlet. now, most of the buttons on all 5 sending units are bad and do not function. FYI- replacement batteries are $4 to $5 each. on the plus side, the receiving units do have a manual on/ off buttom, which is still easier to use than unplugging everything.
Customer Review: Fantastic! Shame so many companies stopped making them... Summary: 5 Stars
After finding that so many places no longer sold these and that many of the companies that used to make them no longer do, I was surprised to find a set like this. That being said, I was somewhat skeptical at first because I was purchasing these for work as a bit of a child deterrant so we could shut things off remotely and not have to physically unplug the machines, but also to make closing up at night a little bit easier, and was pleasantly surprised.
Because of the technologies used, a fairly clear line of sight is required to shut off or turn on the plugged in devices, however in a small store like we have, that is not a problem at all. After nearly a month of use, there have been no problems at all and consider it money well spent!
