Stopped working after 6 months of use.
How can these things break so quickly? After reading the reviews, I'm not the only one who has had this problem.
It's about time for companies to start making products that last or we need the government to step in and require all electronic items of this nature to have a 25 year life span with unlimited free replacements or refund during that time when they fail. Then, maybe companies won't manufacture junk in China that just ends up in landfills here in the States.

Customer Review: Useful Devices But Not For Certain Appliances

Bought these remote outlets for a weekend cabin so I could switch key outlets on and off quickly and easily on arrival and departure. Nice idea but when power is cut to these units (during a power outage for example) they do not switch back on of their own accord (even if they were on at the time that the power went off). This feature made them useless for the purpose I intended (refrigerator, security lights etc) so I have used them only for interior lamps. My parents apt does not have a convient light switch by the entrance to turn on lights when they first walk into home. Now they don't have to stumble in the dark to walk across the living room to turn on a lamp, they just reach for the remote thats place near the entrance when they first walk in.
These were a pleasant surprise item from Eforcity. I wouldn't plug in large appliances(A/C) with this as they are meant for lamps and such. Another good use was xmas lights inside the apt.

I wouldn't recommend this item to anyone. I put a brand new battery in the remote and I STILL have to practically TOUCH the remote to the receiver. It never works more than 1 foot away. It's awful! I don't have a home phone, therefore don't have wireless phones, so I know that it isn't interfering with it. I've moved it to different locations in my condo to no avail. There are no obstructions in my condo. Now I have to go find wireless switches that actually WORK!
